That's what happens when you have no bigs. It was a mistake to think we'd be okay with just Allen and Mobley to play the 5.
That's what a few of us were saying all along. Allen is currently playing 32 mpg, which would have left 16 for a backup center...which is right about what Hartenstein is playing right now. We could have given him the QO, given him regular minutes, then had someone to play more minutes if Allen went down.

Instead, we have pretty much nothing.

Hartenstein is playing extremely well in those 16 minutes a night too. Always a positive for LAC.

He took the minimum to play for LAC because of the guaranteed role/minutes right? If Lauri was playing his natural position then I would imagine Hartenstein would be on the bench the majority of the time.

He shouldn't have had the chance to take the minimum because we could have given him the QO. And if Lauri isn't playing his natural position (the 4) without Hartenstein, I see no reason to assume he'd be playing that position with him.

I just mean it might be hard to sell Hartenstein on that role since they have 4 guys, maybe 5 if you wanna go small ball with Wade, that could play those 16 minutes.

Probably hard to justify bringing him back after the addition of Mobley and Lauri. Maybe Koby should have foreseen injuries being an issue, but Hartenstein is definitely a fringe guy. Not gonna get worked up about Koby not retaining him.

It's just hard to do when you're paying Kevin Love 30 million a year. You want him to be in lineups with Mobley at C. You want Markennen getting minutes at the 4.

So it's just so much money to spend on two positions.

The Kevin Love contract is just...what an anchor.

I think this entire season would go down the drain, a detriment to the development of all our young guys including Mobley, if Allen goes down for a significant amount of time. Having a true Center able to play the five puts everyone else in their natural positions. Without Allen or a legitimate center substitute, guys are no longer playing in their natural position, and we see what we saw last night.

I've been a staunch defender of koby, but I think he made a mistake by not having a legitimate backup for Allen on the roster.

Really tough break because Mobley was playing great and the Cavs were one missed 3-point shot against the Wizards away from a seven game winning streak.

The next four games are against the top three teams in the NBA according to The Athletic's power rankings. Hopefully by the time we play Orlando on Nov. 27 Markkanen and Love will be back.

As for Wednesday's game against Brooklyn, Allen will still be out so it will be Wade or Fall at center along with a bunch of forwards and guards. Could be pretty ugly.

Never count out this scrappy bunch. Rubio may go for 40.

He was threatening to go to Europe if we extended the QO, he didnt want to be in Cleveland, not sure why.

I’d like to continue a trend of screwing Houston over… Who’s the dude that got in trouble this morning with the cops from Duke ?

That’s my guy!!!
Jabari looks legit. Imagining him replacing Lauri in our three-big lineup is salivating. The defense would be absolutely suffocating.

I'm thinking he didn't fit in with the other players, but that's just pure speculation.
Well, it's really weird we pulled the QO, that was the main move I hated this past offseason more than any other. Mobley is not a C today.....and I don't think he will ever be one, he should only ever guard centers when helping or on a switch. He doesn't have the body to bang. He's either going to get gassed early or get injured when playing bully ball.
