I think you have found the fans on this site very complimentary of Dot's game. That said, he is shooting 29% from three. If he was closer to 35-40% during his big minute increase, it would have been much harder to give his minutes to the two rookie first round picks.

It's a young core, I definitely believe Dot belongs, but the team needs to develop all of them.

Ya but I literally told you IT IS between 35-40%. 38% on catch and shoot this season, which is what he's done his entire career. Sure enough, hits his 1st 3 spot up 3's last night sliding back into his customary role.

Also, admittedly I was a bit reactionary to a 1 game sample size lol. JB gave him the minutes last night and Dot played well. I just have Dotson benching PTSD from the 3 years in NY.

Dotson is doing exactly what he was signed to do. He's the #10 guy on the roster right now (11 when Love comes back). He's cheap, experienced, and solid. He's not going to play over the younger draft picks when they are healthy - even if he is as good as, or better than, them at the moment. That's just how the NBA works. But when injuries happened and he's been needed, he's performed well. His hope is to keep playing well enough to stick on a roster for years - even the NBA minimum is a pretty dang good salary and an incredible lifestyle. And maybe he keeps improving his shot, things come together, and he gets a chance to sign a more lucrative deal and play a bigger role. He seems like a good dude, I'd like for it to happen for him.

I disagree.

He has been treated like shit. He doesn't have a role nor does he get any meaningful playing time even when he gets it going. Very tough to establish any sort of consistency like that. For some reason it happened on the Knicks as well.

I agree with this.

Also, ideally he would be a person in relief of Sexton (if Sexton goes out, Dotson should come in).
The problem is, the Cavs do not have a PG that can come into the game in relief of Garland that can support him (or Sexton) in lineups.
