Damyean Dotson Welcoming Committee

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lol, someone's going to have to explain to me what you're all smoking with this Matthew Delladova love. Last time I followed that dude was your playoff run when Kyrie was out and Lebron was going 1v5. I do remember being generally impressed with his tenacity.

But then I just looked at his stats in the past few years. Holy God I take back what I say about Kevin Knox being the worst player in the NBA.

Hustle can only bring your team so far...... Which is a meaningless point because Dotson is full throttle 100% of the time. With his much superior athleticism I can't see what Delladova could possibly give you that Dot couldn't

Smoking?

He's left his heart out on the court for us every minute he's been on the team. He's been an absolute professional when guys left and right of him asked out/pouted/bitched and complained. He's literally the kind of player every young guy on our team should aspire to become - someone that gives his all even in a practice, always plays the right way and leads by example despite the circumstance (I'll never forget him directing LBJ constantly to his spots lmao).

Someone like him is amazingly valuable for any young team. That he's been with us for long and through a lot is just another big bonus. The whole city loves him.

And lastly, he has an amazing bball IQ, and likes to explain and direct guys. Our young guys especially benefit from it as they need to develop their understanding and game sense.

You won't find a single poster who doesn't love Delly, and for good reason.

Delly had the best +/- on the team last year of all the rotational players. He was at -0.2 points per 48; the team as a whole was -7.9. He's not just a lovable mutt. The team does better when he's on the floor, although I agree it's not pretty.

Do you think he will be suspended for the gun charge or the skirmish involving him, his sister and another women? Seems like both are questionable for a suspension.
They've known about the "skirmish" for several months so if nothing has happened yet it's not going to. As for the accident, that was reportedly caused by falling asleep at the wheel. The dope in the car is obviously a concern. The gun needed to either be unloaded or in the trunk to be legal if I'm reading the law correctly. It's a Class 4 felony.

Since the gun was not pointed at anyone or discharged and was merely not stored properly, I don't think this will be a huge problem, especially since he no previous gun charges. In fact, I'm not aware of any previous arrests for Porter.

So will he be suspended and if so, for how long? If he is I doubt it will be for very long, but a felony is a felony and there's no question he's guilty.

Lol actually I do now understand. He's your Frank Ntilikina. Other than Dotson, Frank is a player most Knicks fans swear by. He does stuff defensively with his crazy length, hustle, court vision that couldn't possibly be measured. But if you look at his shooting totals you would think him a waste of time. Franks got a lot more upside than Dellavedova, but they're probably on par for current production.

I still hold though that those shooting numbers the past few seasons are simply unacceptable. I've had to drill that into my head with Frank myself. Not in todays NBA where scoring and shooting are a premium.

It appears acceptable to you guys because your comparison points are other players on a bad team, just like my viewpoint with Frank, but if either of our teams were playoff caliber they wouldn't be sniffing the rotation

Part of the fun with Delly is watching fans of other teams be confused about Delly :chuckle:

I'll put it like this:

Delly forced his way into the team as an undrafted senior. Kyrie hated him for defending so hard in practice. He took the job of Sergei Karasev and made all the young players on a bad team better.

LeBron shows up and Delly is still the guy running the second unit. They keep trading for bigger names, but Delly is always there when the other guys are standing around watching LeBron on offense. As always, his plus/minus keeps him a part of the rotation. Still keeps coaching up young guys.

He signs for waaaay too much money with the Bucks. At the time, they are a bad team with a LeBron type talent. His body falls apart, but all the young guys talk up how much Delly helped their games.

The Cavs suck again, so they happily take Delly's contract back for cranky George Hill and a pick that ends up an unprotected first rounder in two years. Delly is supposed to just sit at the end of the bench, coaching up two lottery selections at point guard... but again the players are just standing around watching Sexton go one on five on offense... so coaches choose to play Delly with a thumb so fucked he can't shoot... and the team plays better with Delly basically avoiding using his right hand.

I don't know how long you have been watching the NBA, but when I was a kid in the 1980s the Mavericks had a backup guard like Delly named Brad Davis. He was only really good for about four years, but they kept him on the roster from 1978 to 1992. After that he was an assistant coach for a while, then I believe he went into the broadcast booth. Die hard Mavs fans know he's a legend, most of the basketball universe would guess he is an insurance salesman by trade.

Delly is our Brad Davis.

Bud, as a middle school teacher in remote learning, I'm pretty much live podcasting for a few hours a day. No time at all for a podcast. Appreciate it though!

This signing is growing on me the more I read the knicks fans complaining about his lack of PT, maybe he will be a present surprise like Nwaba. I remember Bulls fans complaining the same way about Nwaba

Some Of HIS BEST GAMES WERE AGAINST THE BEST TEAMS IN THE NBA .LOOKS LIKE HE CAN HANDLE THE PRESSURE .

The disrespect for the Delly Lama

Delly has been to the playoffs four times, averaging 18.8 minutes per game. His numbers are not impressive but LeBron never had a problem with him being on the floor.

With Delly and Damyean on the same team there will be no stopping the Cavs this year.:chuckle:

84% of shot attempts in college were jumpers. Doesn’t look like that’s changed.
Yeah, which makes him kind of a misfit in this league that wants everything to be a layup or a 3-pointer. Shooting contested mid-range jumpers is the last thing analytics wants guys doing, but that seems to be most of Dotson's offensive game.

I'm hoping that on the Cavs he'll get more open 3-point looks than he did with the Knicks. I actually could see Dotson as a more athletic Dellavedova. He doesn't attack the rim or break his man down off the dribble but he plays tenacious defense on the perimeter and hits a high percentage of 3's.

I also like what Hutch said about how he can fly from rim to rim. With Drummond, Love, and McGee (depending on who's in the game) cleaning up the defensive glass guys like Garland, Sexton, Porter, Okoro, Nance, and Dotson will be able to get out in transition and run the break off outlet passes, especially from Love. Should be a lot of fun to watch.
