Damyean Dotson Welcoming Committee

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can someone else breakdown Dotson's defensive game for me? I don't want my opinion to sway anyone else's opinion, a couple could chime in, just want a conversation going forward, I know he is a one year deal, just curious if anyone thinks he might have a future with the team as a good middle of the pack player.

not a defensive hound but understands where he needs to be in a team defense concept. not someone you'd shout at your screen for missing rotations or giving up easy buckets.

Reminds me a lot of @PIP's game back in the day.

@Lee I don’t really see any similarities if I’m just being honest. Because I was great. And he’s not all that great.

Keep in mind when I was running the point for the 97-98 Armco Heating & Cooling Hornets—many marveled at my offensive exploits...Rightfully so! Aside from leading the league in every meaningful and positive statistical category, I also ran away with every award. I only played the one season.

However what really goes unnoticed is how I got after it on the defensive end... Believe it or not (and you should cause it’s all true) THEY (as in my fans) called me: THE CAR SEAT! Because I’d LOCK YOU UP.... I had a 5 star safety rating....

I know defense!

Trust me on this Cavs fans, I've seen this dude cook from downtown too many times, those shots are going to start falling real soon. He shot over 40% in college and every single time the Knicks game him consistent rotational minutes he shot over 40%. Lol I've quite literally deep dived into the stats to prove that on Knicks forums. He is shooting well from 2 though.

However, even I've been pleasantly surprised with his ability to run an offense in this role that he's been thrown into. I always knew he was a good passer, but his instincts as the primary distributer are really solid, and his handles are so much improved from his rookie year and I love seeing players develop other areas of their game early in their career. 8 assists tonight against 0 turnovers and the offensive structure kind of imploded in the 5 minutes he went out in the 3rd quarter. I hope Bickerstaff lets him play this role more when everyone is healthy.

Id rather not

Did not see him playing much the the younger guys on the team. Looks solid playing with no other options available. But I hope Sexton, Garland, Porter, and Windler all come back and reduce his minutes.

There's a lot of "Blossom" in his game. Thanks New York Knicks. All that I wish right now is that more of those shots would fall.

Just wanted to bump this man‘s thread. Solid team oriented contributions every game so far, regardless of role and minutes. Kind of feels like a steal that we can have him back next year as a solid deep depth piece for a 2M team option.

Lol here comes another round of unearned benching for Dot. Got screwed over by the Knicks and based on 1 game with everyone healthy it's just more of the same.

He's outplayed Okoro, but I knew they weren't going to give the nod to Dot over their rookie lottery pick. Hell even I wouldn't.

But I'm very disappointed JB appears to be favoring Windler in his very first game back. After Dot averaged 14 and 5 on low turnovers as a starter being forced into a PG role he's never played in his college or professional life and given that played exceptionally well. It's the main reason why his 3 Pt % is below his career averages as he's still shooting 38% on catch and shooting from 3 this season.

One day my guys going to get the respect he deserves.

I think you have found the fans on this site very complimentary of Dot's game. That said, he is shooting 29% from three. If he was closer to 35-40% during his big minute increase, it would have been much harder to give his minutes to the two rookie first round picks.

It's a young core, I definitely believe Dot belongs, but the team needs to develop all of them.

I find the staning of mediocre players just kinda weird.
