It’s not about having a complete non-scoring guard next to him. It’s about having a non ball dominant guard next to him. I love Sexton and his work ethic, but we’ve all seen him and he’s been a pretty ball dominant player. Can he morph into someone else now? Perhaps, but we haven’t seen it. I think Sexton‘s ideal role would be a a scoring third guard off the bench, but I’m not sure that’s a role he is willing to accept at this point of his careerI think you're over-stating this by a lot. I think Garland was ready to break out, Sexton or no Sexton. And, having a complete non-scoring guard next to him in the lineup is not all positive. Garland and the rest of the offense would benefit by defenses having to pay attention to the other guard as a potent scoring threat instead of completely ignoring the off guard, packing the paint, and keying completely on Garland.
