I think you're over-stating this by a lot. I think Garland was ready to break out, Sexton or no Sexton. And, having a complete non-scoring guard next to him in the lineup is not all positive. Garland and the rest of the offense would benefit by defenses having to pay attention to the other guard as a potent scoring threat instead of completely ignoring the off guard, packing the paint, and keying completely on Garland.
It’s not about having a complete non-scoring guard next to him. It’s about having a non ball dominant guard next to him. I love Sexton and his work ethic, but we’ve all seen him and he’s been a pretty ball dominant player. Can he morph into someone else now? Perhaps, but we haven’t seen it. I think Sexton‘s ideal role would be a a scoring third guard off the bench, but I’m not sure that’s a role he is willing to accept at this point of his career

Borrowing this post from Wham. Read this and then tell me why it couldn't work with Sexton?

I saw a Chris Paul statline recently (that was quite good BTW) and was thinking "man, those are Darius Garland numbers".

When the best PG in the NBA makes you think of your guy...that's progress

It’s a different role for Sexton and the results were mixed, when he was healthy, so we don’t yet know if he can adjust to it or not. It would be a big gamble giving him a big money extension, expecting him to be able to adjust.

Actually, kouki posted that, I just agreed with it.

His chemistry with Mobley has gotten better lately. Teams are taking away the Allen and DG pick and roll oops so DG is finding Mobley on cuts. When isolations aren't there either, he has been giving Mobley the ball to make things happen.

Can he please find his shot again, my god it's been brutal. Also he has gone crazy with the turnovers these last few games, very lackadaisical.

He's 14 for 57 from 3 (24.5%) over the last 9 games. Also averaging 4.1 turnovers per game. He is averaging 11.3 assists per game in that span along with 4.4 rebounds per game. But we really need him to start hitting his threes again and cut out some of the needless turnovers.

He's down to just 36% from 3 for the season, which is way too low for someone as good of a shooter as him. No reason he shouldn't be near 40%.

Sure he's in a bit of a slump right now, but I'd say he was on a heater in the 1st half of the season. Hitting crazy Steph-like shots without batting an eye. The truth about him as an outside shooter is probably somewhere in the midde, as it usually is.

I hope he cuts out those hail mary 3's he shoots way outside the arc. His percentage isn't great this year, and turnovers are up lately :(

It looks like his back is getting sore and he holds it sometimes when he wears down in the latter part of games, it seems to be affecting aspects of his game. We need someone who can carry some of the load DG has been shouldering since Rubio went out. Hopefully Rondo can handle more minutes as he ramps up on his return.

Good players find a way to help their team's win even when the other team is focused on shutting them down and their shot is off, like his 12 assists last night.
