Garland looks like he's going nowhere when he's dribbling. He's not getting by anybody. Looks super slow and unathletic, even moreso than usual.
His box score looks like he was great tonight. It sure didn’t feel great in real time

Price was a top 3 PG in his day. With his style of play, he'd be a superstar in today's league.

No, he wasn’t, and I saw him play a lot at the Coliseum. He was very good but Magic, Isiah and Stockton were all clearly better. He was the best shooter but played in a tremendous era for PGs.

At the time I talked myself into thinking Price > Stockton but over time I realized that wasn’t true and I hated it.

Reading the last couple pages of this thread...it's amazing how quick people were to write off Garland, when he was in and out to start the year and playing his way back into effectiveness.

He's been balling out the last week and a half. I'm glad he's our PG.

They are saying Haliburton is a top 5 offensive player. I think he has weakened Garland in some people's mind just like Chet and Wemby have Mobley.

Hasn't for me, just saying people are disappointed they aren't higher

it is a good reminder that the league isn't static. Guys get better than expected (SGA, Ant, Jokic). New guys like Haliburton, Chet, & Wemby come in. Guys like LBJ & Curry don't seem to age like they should have. Change is constant and often not predictable. To be great, teams need individual players to ascend to individual greatness. I think we are in that phase where we are wondering if DG & Mobley can become great or just very good. If one or both become great, the Cavs can be a great team. If just very good . . .

I disagree. Magic was undoubtedly way better, but I'd still take prime Price over prime Stockton and it'd be a tossup for me with Thomas (Stockton and IT obviously were more durable and had the better careers). I'd also like to note that all 3 guys you mentioned had way better teams around them.

Think it’s interesting how players have transitioned to lows. When I was a kid it was all high tops. They do have nice support, but it still makes me nervous not feeling anything against my ankles.

I think @2 For The Brew is right.

Stockton was a much defender than Price (Price's biggest flaw) and had an edge in terms of being a floor general. Price was the better outside shooter.

Advanced stats aren't all that close.

I just looked at bball reference and admit I should take the L here. Surprisingly, price does stack up extremely well with IT though,

I don't know why all players don't go the Curry route and wear ankle braces on both ankles. If Curry can run around all game, cross guys over, and cut around screens, then so can everyone else. Ankle injuries are often unnecessary careless or happenstance injuries.

Price is like a fusion of Nash and Steph but in the wrong era and 80% as good as either. I've only seen tape as he was well before my time, but if he could've stayed healthy that is a surefire HoF guy
