He seems to have his best performances this year while playing point guard. It's a small sample size but I think certain guys just play better when they are forced to play the point and actively taken on a pass first mentality.

The role of backup PG or point forward could really suit Cedi for this roster. If they want to split up Sexton and Garland for periods of the game, maybe Cedi can grow into that player that is the sub for Garland so Sexton can stay off the ball and Cedi plays the point.

For me I see some of Cedi's biggest issues as not making the decision fast enough and then driving against a set defense. When playing pg, he moves the ball and that seems to work much better.

I really think he got into that bad habit because he wasn't getting any touches from Collin for 2 years.

I agree, except I think they could very likely draft a player like that only with more athletic ability and better ball handling and shooting skills.

Something changed this season with Cedi after he was sent to come off the bench. I believe he decided or was told to be a scorer and try to be a sixth man. I also think the bad habits are just him having so many different coaches all asking him to play a different role.

That's true but Cedi could be just as valuable to the rotation if he could turn into a tall PG or point forward. As much as it's nice to see Delly run the offense, giving that opportunity to someone that could have a long term position on the team and the rotation helps with long term growth. Delly is on his last legs of his nba career.

Cedi is what he is.

He's all peaks and valleys and the coach needs to recognize when you are deep in a valley and mitigate the damage.

There’s probably a better chance Garland could turn into a tall PG than Cedi. Garland could have a very late growth spurt; no way in hell Cedi becomes a quality NBA PG.

That's the thing though, we don't need Cedi to become a quality NBA PG. What we need is someone to sub in for Garland and collectively be able to not have to put in a tradition PG onto the floor. If Cedi can provide enough ball handling and playmaking with Sexton and others on the floor, they have a formula to possibly not to have to play small so often.

I would define the role to Cedi as a tall PG because that's where his focus needs to be. He needs to be work on his ball handling and playmaking while defending 1-3.

All this is under the assumption we are tanking for the rest of the season and we don't bring someone more suited for this role in at the draft. As we tank, I think you want to still try to develop players and down the stretch take alittle more chances with players to move into new positions. Nance has seem to figure out his game through playing different roles down the stretch in the second half of the last couple seasons.

Would not say he is a scrub, just not playing his strengths right now... He is slasher/fast break guy who moves well without the ball... If you ask him to create or handle the ball too much, then you'll be in trouble.... The same with him trying to be 3&D guy, his shot is not that consistent... I think he would work well to a team like Denver/SA where they promote a lot of movement/cutting without the ball...

How can it be that this guy is 25 years old and in his 4th year in the NBA, with plenty of playing time, and people still can't agree on what kind of player he is or what his strengths and weaknesses are...is he 3&D, fast break/slasher, point guard, forward...and that's just on this page...would be quicker to say what kind of player he isn't...so far that list is maybe just defensive center. No wonder he's confused.

I am hoping that whoever we draft locks some guys into some roles. We have too many guys who just don't know what they are supposed to do. It was worse with Drew and Beilien, but because of health and the constantly changing coaching staff, Collin and Allen are about the only guys who have defined roles. It really hurts a guy like Cedi, whereas Collin was prob going to be what he was going to be no matter what.

He’s the fourth highest paid player on the team and he stinks.

He had a decent rookie season but he’s been worse ever since and now he can’t shoot for shit.

He‘ll collect his guaranteed money the next two years but he’s a marginal rotation player at best. The smart move for him would be to spend some money on acting lessons, grow the hair long and get an agent to pitch him as the star of a new Star Wars spinoff called “The Macedonian.”

Cedi isn't a good finisher which I think contributes to alot of his problems. If you ask him to score first, teams know that you disrupt his slashing lanes, he is going to have a hard time scoring. Add to that his inconsistent shooting from 3 and teams can just move him off his spots from 3 to force him to slash or take a bad 3 pt shot.

The reason why I think he should be asked to try to create for others is it gets him into a pass first mentality. If defenses respect his passing then when he has the ball teams will play the passing lanes vs the slashing lanes. He should then get some easier looks at the basket and be able to finish better.

Further to my Star Wars theme Cedi could be paired with a very young version of the Today show co host, “Baby Hoda.”

Dude definitely has some kind of self esteem issues, historically inconsistent

I cant wait until the day this thread is moved to the "Around the NBA" section.
