Actually many players are allowed to go to summer league even though still under contract. Having an NBA exit clause is probably a must.Apparently, he's said he plans to stick with the Turkish team until 2017. But you're right in that he might exit that contract early. Seems unlikely given that the Cavs wouldn't be able to pay much to help him do so.
What I meant by the earlier post, though, is that as far as I know a player under contract to a team from an overseas league cannot participate in NBA summer league. He would have to get out that foreign contract first, rather than just show up in Vegas.
Turkish League. Players who have played in the Turkish League: Hedo, Ersan Ilyasova, Mehmet Okur, Sasha Vujacic, Omer Asik, Enes Kanter, Bojan Bogdanovic, Semih Erden (Yay!), Bogdan Bogdanovic, Zaza, Milan Macvan, Furkan Aldemir, and a bunch of ex-NBA Americans like Allen Iverson, Adam Morrison, etc....fairly decent level of competition. How this guy develops from now til he is 22 (when his contract runs out in Turkey) will be interesting to watch.
Doesn't seem like he'll be in a Cavs uniform any time soon, if ever.
