Look: If Andre Miller is a starter, and the starters are getting their ears pinned back almost every night, the Sixers really should think seriously about moving him. It won't be to Miami - some chat yahoo started that rumor a few days ago - but it should be somewhere.

Cleveland is desperate for a starting point guard to help LeBron James, and if the Cavs don't get anywhere soon in their negotiations with their free agent, Anderson Varejao (the two sides are a million miles apart), Billy King should see if there's some way Varejao would come down from his ridiculous $10-million-a-year demands and take a reasonable contract that the Cavs could put in a package. For, say, Miller.

Why would Philly want Snow and his contract back?

^Snow's contract is the same as Miller's, really. Lou Williams is continuing to blow up. The 76ers do need some leadership. I think they are one of the few teams that would take Snow. They need to hand the reins to Williams, and creat more space for Carney, etc to develop.

That being said, our expirings (shannon and ira) and a throw in like Damon also works for Andre straight up. That would clear more space for them. They need it, since Iggy just passed on their extension offer.

i was talking about how the cavs desperately need a PG to one of my sixer friends the other day and he said the sixers at this point have no need for miller as they have some up and comer. I would love miller back here.

also i think someone said that AV is no longer able to be involved in a sign and trade. but i think even if he were willing to accept 7.5 million the cavs would have been on that a long time ago.

The Cavs can still sign and trade AV and I doubt the Cavs have or will ever offer 7.5 million per year for his services.

As much as this team needs a PG, I'd rather stick with Gibson then go with Miller as he's another player who can't shoot that well and isn't the scorer we need at the PG spot... We need a playmaker and a scorer; he's a playmaker but he can't score like we need our PG needs to be able to do...

I am sure we get get Miller and Boobie on the court at the same time. Not great defensively, but potent at the other end.

Wouldn't we have signed Andy at 7.5 mil per? Plus, I don't think Varejao would take the same amount of money to go play for a Phili team that won't be sniffing the playoffs for a couple of years.

^^^Actually you can replace Snow with Damon Jones in that trade and the numbers would still work out.

Idunno bout Dre Miller/Reggie Evans. Not sold.:coffee:

Dunno that the 76'ers would really want to add salary at this point. We could do Newble+Jones for Miller and save them almost $6m, while getting another ridiculous expiring contract we could use in '08/'09 and retaining our cap flexibility for '09/'10.

That sounds like a Ferry kind of trade... and great for both teams.

No need to involve Anderson at all, let him rot until he's willing to sign for something reasonable. We'd have an open roster spot as well as our old trade exception and could look for some front court help to replace Ira.

Would Anderson be BYC?

I do not see snow leaving for Philly, but I was thinking

AV, Hughes for Miller/Dalembert.

However I would certainly take a miller/evans for AV, Newble, Jones.

Somebody will say Philly won't give up Dalembert, but I think otherwise. He is a big contract and has not really progressed or been able to carry the team. I think they could couple Hughes and AV with Iguadola, Evans and Williams and be good enough to bring butts back into seats. They might not win a lot this year as it is pretty late in the season to turn the ship around, but so what if they pick up a decent pick next year, they can pick up another true center to bring along for a fraction of the money. Miller and Dalembert are also the biggest contracts on the books.

That's pretty much the trade I keep coming back to when I look at the rosters for both teams. I think they'd want to throw in one more player like Booth or someone else, just for roster space reasons/financial planning.

Philly is dangerously close to the luxury tax, i think, so I'm not sure how much more salary they'd want to add.

I have that deal working out as the Cavs sending 17.1 back(BYC Value of 13.6) for 13.7 million in return. It would add approximately 4 milion to our payroll.

If we want Andre, there's a pretty good chance we can get it done.

They've offered him pretty darn close to that. They keep inching up and he hasn't budged. I don't see Fegan coming to us and saying "do a S&T for 7.5". He won't drop below 9-10M a year for us, so why would he for another team?
