I watched him play in college quite a bit and he was a reluctant shooter even though he could get his shot off any time he wanted. Has a point guard mentality in a power forward body. I think he can be unselfish to the point that it actually hurts his team at times - if you are a good shooter with an open shot - shoot the damn ball.

I've said it before, but I think Dean Wade is a "basketball player," and not a "hooper." There are players that can be both, but everyone tends to lean heavily one way or the other. I think Wade and Dylan Windler are basketball players that can do really well in the flow of a system that runs the way its designed to. I don't think either guy is thr kind you just roll a ball out to and tell them to just play.

I think Dylan is a hooper. He just had a broken leg for 2 years

i like wade as the understudy of kevin love. once love's contract is up, dean can plug and play love's minutes and offensive role.

Wade is a power forward and he's behind Mobley and Love. Which of them should we take minutes from to get Wade in?

He needs to go to another team where he'd be #2 rather than #3. But with Love's injury history I'm glad Wade is on the Cavs right now. Not to mention that any day we could wake up to find out five guys are out for a couple of weeks with COVID. I don't know if depth has even been more important than this season.

Wade is a guy that can come in and play a role competently when needed, I don't think we need to force feed minutes or send him to another team. Him and Stevens are solid, cheap 10-12th guys and you can say overall they've been successful two-way contract players given they will hang in the league.

Ha. How is he a Power Forward when he played the SF position and played it well? He defended the best SF in the league in Durant and did it all. HE defended quick players in isolation and did it well. He is versatile and if Okoro can play the SG position so can Wade. Let alone the SF position.
I don’t think it’d make the team better

Really?

Stats say otherwise. Besides that point, Wade can make us even more versatile and tougher to score against.

Right now, The cavs use a standard PnR defence at the point of attack. Mostly going over screens with Okoro who's not the best at doing so, but is getting better. Cavs still give up a lot of open 3's..because we still allow dribble penetration despite the size inside. The 3's could be by design, or not. Now, with Wade he gives us more size and versatility. He can defend a lot of players and he moves his feet really well laterally. You put him at the 2 for example and you have a team that can switch 2-5. Easily...and secure the boards. You can put him on the PG until he proves that he can take Dean to the cup in isolation.. every screen will be switched anyway, so it doesn't matter if he can handle screens or not.

He solves some of our rebounding issues (that look much better lately), he gives us better shooting, better finishing against most 2's, etc. But ultimately, he makes this team even harder to figure out. I'm not saying you should start him, but he should be playing the A LOT of minutes at the 2/3. Not the 4. You have Love filling minutes there.

There is no fuckign way he is a downgrade from Okoro. Literally zero.

Can you at least say what's funny to you?

Perhaps you don't agree with the whole concept of it all, which is fine, because your thoughts are your own after all... but how heck isn't Dean Wade an upgrade from Okoro?

Cavs would be a better team with Lamar and Dean right now. Zero doubts about it. At least Lamar as an in-between game right now that can supplement his below average 3pt shooting..which is still better than Okoro's.

how do you know Wade can defend guards, Okoro guards the best guard not just the SG he guards the best guard on the floor, how do we know Wade can do this. I agree with Stevens as he has shown it but Wade there is no evidence he can do it

I saw him defend guards in isolation and he does it well. He doesn't need to do the stuff that Okoro does defensively all-around. He only needs to do so well in isolation and switch every screen automatically. Even if he gets beat, you still have Mobley, Mark, Allen to deter him at the rim. I believe the combination of the improved offence, better size, better rebounding, better switching can easily overcome whatever Okoro is giving the Cavs as a point of attack defender.

Nope, not really interested in talking about Dean Wade. Just hope I don’t see him on the court too much.
