Dee Millner really dude.....really

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You have these young guys, who think they know their own worth. In Dee Milliner's case-- he thought he was an elite "Top 5" player. And people can speculate where someone is going to land, but it's not factual. I'm sure his agent was betting that he'd be top 5. But, you can never really tell what any team is going to do with their draft picks.

At least he went Top 10. But with that ego -- wow.
And the support group that these people have; who don't know or have inside knowledge to teams, are also pumping his head up. At least, that's my take on it.

He just better produce some outstanding numbers, this season.

If you want my opinion on it... Everyone and their brother wants to be represented by Jay-Z.. Wise for Jay-Z, but football probably got just that more $$ centric.

Know why he was so sure he was gonna go Top5?

Probably because his agent was promising him everyday he was going Top 5.

It's probably not about the money, Milliner and Geno are pissed they have to play for that grease-fire franchise.

Also, kudos to the Browns for not picking either one of these guys, who are coming across a little diva-ish without having proven anything yet.

Of course his agent was promising that. Pumping his head up. And when he went #9, he's looking at the agent like: WTF. The agent has to sell himself, to get the job. So, I suppose this could be the agents fault for inflating Dee's ego.

Better luck with his next agent.

Dee Millner fired his agent after falling to NO. 9 in the draft.

Ummm its his agents fault 8 teams didnt need a 1st round CB with past injury issues?

"I know that everything was done to ensure that Mr. Milliner would be drafted as high as possible," Fleming told Rapoport. "Dee was the first cornerback selected, and he was drafted ninth overall to the New York Jets. This is a tremendous accomplishment. I wish Mr. Milliner future success in his professional career."

Translation: Go fuck yourself. Maybe we should have arranged trades so that teams above #9 would have needed you. We did our job, your pick was in line with expectations and commensurate with team needs, and now we need to say something for this b-rate reporter for this AP article so that . Thanks for the percentage of contract fee, now we don't have to service it (read: service your ego) while you proceed with your career. You will sure get plenty of reps on the field with that anemic offense. Have fun on an island when your front 7 doesn't consist of 4 NFL first rounders. He hasn't signed a contract yet, so does he even have to pay this dude?

I think he just wants to part ways with him, before there's an obligation to owe him. He's seeking a agent with other connections/notary. He's in the "Big Leauges", now.

Top 9, YO!

The article said, I think, they didnt promise him anything and I doubt a pro NFL agency would have made promises like that. Now maybe they were telling him that they PREDICT he MAY go top 5, and in his mind that meant he was top 5. Or shit maybe he just thought he was the Stone Cold shit, and blamed his stock of falling on his agents somehow.

Or you know, maybe I posted in the wrong tone when I made this thread? You never know maybe all this was taken out of context and the agency DID mess up somehow and it screwed Dee. Nobody but those 2 parties knows what happened.

But im willing to bet that the agency thats been doing what its done for years, and has MANY other clients, was not in the wrong. The story that an athlete got mad at someone because he overvalued himself just seems too believbable

In the case of first round picks who are going to be attending the draft, the agents typically provide them with a designer suit that has been perfectly tailored as well as jewelry. I would also guess some training as to how to respond to questions that they will surely be asked. The agents know that the player will be making a sizable amount of money so they have no problem fronting this type of stuff to the player before they are drafted because they know that they will be compensated. I'm guessing the fired agent won't get his typical %, but I am assuming that he will be reimbursed for the services he has already provided

Isn't part of being an agent having the ability to obtain credit for the client? You pump this kid up like he's a lock for #5 at worst and he borrows several hundred thousand dollars based on the assumption that his first contract will be for X dollars. Once the guy starts dropping, he has less overall money in his first 3 years and paying off the back money from the agent becomes much more of a problem.
