Now that Biden is likely the Democratic Nominee for President, he has a choice to make on his VP pick. It's all but certain he will pick a woman. So who you got?

I think he goes with the double minority and chooses Kamala Harris. Will help shore up the women's vote and hopefully energize the African American community to show up on election day.

If the focus is solely on the Presidential election in 2020, someone like Klobuchar is the best option.

If the focus is on anything else (and in my opinion it should be), like:
  • Down-ticket races
  • The Presidential candidate in 2024
  • The future of the party
I think Klobuchar is an absolutely terrible selection.

He most likely promised it to her when they went all Captain Planet on Bernie.

Obviously it's all speculation, but I don't think that's how it went down. I feel that was more DNC telling everyone to get in line and rally around Biden or else you'll find yourself on the outside looking in. Just my guess.

i dont think there is a chance in hell biden promised it to anyone that early.

I think for 18 months the most likely pick is Harris. She just fits to many categories.

I thought so too. After Tulsi took Harris down on her record imo I think things may have changed. Amy definitely could have had vp as a qualifier to essentially hand Joe the Democratic Nomination.

Grisham is the dark horse.

Hispanic Woman.
Proper record: Progressive on the important issues, but also a consensus builder.
Governor gives her the inside track for his stated need to be POTUS from Day 2.
Her COVID response is widely praised, receiving 65-70% approval in New Mexico. This is very important in this election.
Smart but also lighthearted.
Seems to be the most regular of the lot. A real Jane Public. Loves beer.
She will play very well in the Midwest once people know her.

I really like her, especially with her appeal in Texas, the Midwest, and the way she would gut Trump's border wall argument.

Yeah she has appeal in several areas.

Moreover, choosing a governor over a senator allows Biden to take Trump to task twice over on specific issues.

It becomes far easier to undercut Trump on COVID when they can point at Grisham. The same with immigration.

And you are right, she is known in Texas and a Hispanic is just the thing to finally get the Latinx folks in Texas to finally vote in numbers commiserate with their roles in society there.

I think she is really a no-brainer considering that name recognition is irrelevant once the VP is in the spotlight. Palin jumped to 100% name recognition within a week.

Grisham is unknown and the excitement factor is very much needed for a Biden ticket.

Whoever the VP pick is, they will be the front runner for the Dem nomination and probably the Presidency in 2024.
That is the plan.

That is why this is the most consequential VP choice since Kennedy chose LBJ.

Not because Kennedy was killed, but because there is no way in hell JFK wins without the states Johnson brought with him.
