Denzel Valentine: Get lost

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I see your perspective. I have to admit, I don't want to believe what you are saying. It's so counter-intuitive to trade for Rubio - an extension of the coach wherever he has played - and then not create that bridge.

Here's my ranking of the Cavs off-season:

1. Draft Mobley, didn't get cute.
2. Trade for Rubio.
3. Ummm...
4. Resigning Jarrett Allen was actually cool.
5. Uhhhh...
6. I heard Len Komoroski received some recognition for business leadership.

Everything else is pretty far down on the list.
I don't want to believe what I'm saying. The Pangos signing followed by this interview made me start to actually wonder.

The very same article mentions that he hasn't really spoke with JBB in length at all. So I don't see it is as that big of a jump.
Not trying to challenge you by any means, but may I see the link to the article that you're referring to? That does sound a bit troublesome so I just want to see it firsthand.

Thanks man, I see the part you were referring to, about not yet getting a chance to speak in-depth. I read somewhere that Rubio has been back home in Spain after the Olympics, so I can only hope :fingersx: that the not yet speaking in-depth part simply refers to not yet being afforded the opportunity to meet face-to-face. I'm super anxious and excited to see how we look this year, and while I'm probably more supportive of Koby and JBB than most, I'm most definitely on the fence with both of those guys.

I def don't see Ricky as a long-term piece but I really hope he can help supercharge the development of Collin and Darius during his stint with us.

Who cares what they gave him? Not my money, it’s not much at all, and there weren’t other options.
Like I said: I worry that the guaranteed money raises the threshold for letting him go, if there’s someone better out there. And I’m not convinced that there weren’t better options out there. In any case, I have no use for short wings. I’m not sure THE LEAGUE has use for short wings.

Yeah I don't disagree that we shouldn't waste roaster spots but all those guys are worthless too. And how do you know any vet would want to come to Cleveland? We aren't exactly a destination location or situation. Come on.

At least one of those guys is still unsigned, by 29 other NBA teams...I don't think you are going to find any needles in the haystack. It's why I like the signing of Pangos, we at least know he doesn't already suck in the NBA so that's something.

And by all accounts Rubio is about as good of a vet leader you could ask for and we made a decent investment in him.

Shit people were complaining about Prince on the wing. You think we are going to get anyone half as good as him?
I miss Prince. And if he was the reason that KPJ threw a sammich, then he had some real value. He was also a real wing.

I just don’t care that much about the 15th guy

ETA: I’m also only seeing reports that the contract is partially guaranteed.

Svi - Team showed interest he didn't want to come here.
Servydas - Has shown nothing in the NBA for Pistons and sucked in SL for Pistons.
James Ennis - Is likely waiting for a end of the bench spot on a contender he's old now.
Chandler Hutchison - Is same as Denzel Valentine. He's not developmental. He's not a vet culture guy. He has no skills.
Garrison Mathews - Cavaliers have shown interest but Mathews may not want to come here per reports.
Gerald Green - Really?
Do you have a link to the report on Matthews?

If this guy is as bad as he’s supposed to be, why is he still in the NBA?

Do you have a link to the report on Matthews?

Fedor had been linking Valentine and Cavs and in those articles it said Cavs also liked Mathews but he wasn't sure Mathews had interest in Cavs.

The sad part is he won't be our 15th guy unless Windler can stay healthy and Cedi goes back to playing within his game. .

Hi, and thanks for letting me be here. In short, as expected, I am part of Lauri -fanbase but seems the first thing here is to talk about... The GOAT? No, it seems I choose Denzel.

With his time on Bulls, I can quite firmly see he had some of his worst moments last season. I think part of it is bc he knew to be going out for sure if he didn't prove his worth enough. Also, I see the part of his low efficiency is he was sharing too much time with line-ups he was taking care of the ball more he ever should. Even with his decent play-making, his issues has always been head-scratching heat checks. Denzel for me is like an adorable boy who gets excited and wants to do more he is capable in the end. This said, he has a decent jumper and in perfect world could be a legitimate addition in the bench mob spacing.

The reason I see Denzel could do semi well with small minutes is Cavs just acquired Rubio. I expect Denzel to share any minutes he's given with Ricky as the primary ball handler. With the Bulls, we have had so many average to below average guards that nonathletic Denzel with soe most of the stubborn heat checks has ended up too many times taking too much of a role. On his "on nights" he most definitely can do damage to opponents fast with his shooting, but imo, he is the kind of a player that should have a short leash, secondary play maker role and not anything more, and should be shooting almost only open 3pt shots, preferably catch and shoot ones. The pairing with Rubio might actually work but I am a bit worried if Cavs free flowing coaching philosophy will give him too much leeway. Well I guess Rubio can as the veteran try and knock the stupid heat checks and hopeless drives off from his game and actually make hi think how to do_the_right_choice.

*********

Well that's about everything about Denzel for now. I have at times liked him as a player but also been dropping my jaw like "What on earth he is doing now?". But Denzel is much more than a basketball player. I didn't see anyone posting a link here yet, but here goes, Denzel rap beats, album calle "517: Made Me"

It might be as below average as his pro NBA career, but as a respectful person and a human being that likes Denzel a.k.a Z3l (oh... He got the nickname when he had hot stretches off the 3pt line - he can get real hot, just remember he needs the short leash) as a person, I wish all the best. Not lot of people have achieved their dreams like him, and I hope he can help the Cavs organization, be his minutes 0, 5 or 15 per game.

Nice intro Step-Back Hook. Top marks for decent insights, and you might be first poster who's first post includes an album cut. Nice.
