Denzel Ward

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’m luke warm just from a value perspective. We passed on maybe the best overall player in the draft to take a corner in the top 4. Ward is going to have to be really, really good to justify the draft capital we spent on him.

I don’t necessarily dislike him as a prospect, I just think if you aren’t taking Chubb in that spot you trade down. Again, I think Ward can be good, I just dislike making that pick given BPA.

I love the pick. We are in no spot to pick based on luxury.
We need players at all positions and this kid fills a huge void in the secondary!
I like it Dorsey, go back into the end of 1 and get that RB or Tackle if they keep falling.

Not that they got anything right as far as picks at 1 and 4, but they said they didn’t receive any legit offers for 4.
I mean the Bills only gave up a couple 2nds. They still kept 22 to move up into the top 10.

And if that’s the case I get it.

I don’t hate Ward, it’s just disappointing you pass on Chubb in that spot, even as a luxury pick.

I think of it this way, are the Steelers passing on Chubb if they are in that spot?

I seriously beg you guys to stop listening to this awful station and spread the word to every breathing motherfucker in our area. I want this station wiped.

These idiots don't deserve 6 figure salaries. Please. Never turn your dial and stop on them.

But Chubb also has to be really good to justify his selection slot; this works both ways. Chubb has the ability to be an excellent player at this position; Ward has that ability too.

If you determined an elite corner prospect elevates the overall performance of your defense more than another elite end would (a good player will play the vacancy left by said elite end prospect — Ogbah)
then I’m not coming at you.

If you didn’t like the haul you’d get in trading down and assuming the risk of missing out on Ward, again, I’m not coming at you.

At the very least, I think the decision was sound.

I almost wonder if there are going to be OSU fans underrating him; the program has churned our so many good secondary players recently you kind just get used to sitting and watching the conveyer belt.

I'm loving this pick...... and I'm a Michigan fan.

And it's not difficult for me to say that, because ward, I feel is going to make people forget about Joe haden

Grossi is Grossi but this fees like Manziel and Gilbert all over again

Ward doesn't have the question marks that Gilbert had. Ohio State teaches guys to be NFL corners. They run a NFL defense. It's why the corners taken in the early rounds from the Urban Meyer era have translated to the NFL.

Gilbert was a speed guy that didn't have ball skills and didn't position himself properly. I never thought Gilbert was the best corner of that draft, I personally like Bradley Roby.

Well immediately he’s not winning in the grammar department.

I’d rather have Chubb, but Ward fills a hole. Our secondary will be MUCH improved.
I've thought for awhile now this pick was going to be Chubb, or Ward as a darkhorse. I was in on Minkah for awhile but it became crystal clear he was going to fall. FS just don't get taken that high.

I didn't really prefer one over the other (Chubb vs Ward). Felt Chubb was a slightly better prospect and better value pick but Ward fit a much bigger need.

I will also say, I think Ward is a safer pick. If he's not at least an average corner in his career, I'd be stunned. I could see Chubb not living up to the hype, though being with Von Miller is going to do him wonders.

If this pick was at 6 or 7 instead of 4, I think the reaction in here would be overwhelmingly positive instead of mixed. Which is not a surprise. The problem is, those trades weren't there and they were never going to be. The earliest pick we realistically could have gotten is 12 and Ward would have been long gone by then. And the rest of the elite prospects would have been gone as well.

I mean...look at the guys taken 12 and later in comparison to Denzel Ward. It's not even close.

Im a buckeye guy. I go to 1 road game, 4 home games and the bowl game. Ward is good but saying he is as good or better then Lattimore is stretching it. He is quicker but barely. Lattimore does one thing a lot better then Ward--he gets his head back around. Im not saying Ward is terrible doing this but Lattimore is great staying with a WR and getting turned around to make a play on the ball. He showed it in college and the pros. Lattimore fell because of his hamstrings.

Raiders took a 3rd and 5th for the 10th pick. So saying we couldn't get in til the 12th is BS. Broncos were taking Nelson if Chubb wasn't there, everyone knew the colts were taking Smith if Nelson wasn't there. The argument is what was Chicago and SF doing if Ward is available. I think they draft him but I think Chicago would talk trade(they only have 1 pick on day 2) if Smith wasn't there cause they could get Edmund later.

I agree with Grossi. We got terrible value at 1 and 4. They might be great players but where they were picked was not good. We could of gotten Ward at 8th and the latest 10th.
We could of gotten Mayfield at 4. You can say you can't always be cute and trade down but great teams do it. Baltimore did it all day today and then traded back up to get their QB. Baltimore got double their money back today while we paid double.
