D'Ernest Johnson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wasn't the decision Higgins or Hodge?

Well, anyways I really didn't have any issues with the final roster. Always a fan of D'Earnest as the third back. He won me over last season and somebody at some point is going to give him a nice contract elsewhere. Good for him when a team wises up and does it.

The beat reporters made it more out to be Felton or Hodge but Hodge's salary basically meant he was going to be cut unless we absolutely needed him.

Look at this celebration when DEJ gets the game ball.

That right there is everything that is awesome about sports. Good guy who just did everything right, worked his ass off, and eventually made it. He's going to get a contract that'll give him some real money at some point.

Guys with a story like his are why some fans are less tolerant of the guys who act entitled.

So will the Browns trade him or offer him the high level RFA tender?

I bet any tender will keep teams from trying to pick him off. There is so much untapped RB talent in the NFL that I don't think teams really take notice and are trying to pick off RBs from other teams via RFA.

I think the Browns might end up as one of those teams that just know how to run the football no matter who is the RB we have. We have a good o-line and a coach that is willing to adapt his scheme to the player on a play by play basis.

Agree. It's like Denver used to be. Hardly didn't matter who they had a rb, their zone blocking and good line coach made many rbs look like studs. Some really were, but others thrived because of the scheme.

Edit- had to look it up because the only name I could recall was Mike Anderson...but guys who thrived in Denver and really no place else...Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Tatum Bell, Knowshon Moreno, CJ Anderson. Clinton Portis did well in Wash, and ole Rueben Droughns had 1000+ with Brownies.

Oh I agree, Higgins signed a team-friendly contract that gave him the roster edge. Franchise saved a little over one million on that decision which will help retain players next season.

Back to D'Ernest - I don't think just any back makes the same runs he made last night. Jake Burns is working on a breakdown for release later today. His yards after contact were elite.

Very comfortable with D'Ernest on this team. Comfortable enough to not be upset if a certain backup wants to get more money on the open market. I hope Hunt gets what he deserves and I'd be ok with him seeking one more contract.

Hunt is signed through next season.
