Oh boy, this could complicate things if it goes to court again.

I’d much rather Watson start serving games than play week 1.

Otherwise that sets up the nightmare scenario where the legal battle is resolved mid-season and his 17 game suspension is served across 2 seasons, ruining both.

This also shouldn’t appeal to Watson, considering he’d face a far greater financial loss if he misses 2023 games.

Why won't the browns and watson just take a year suspension and move on?

I've watched the Browns since the 1980 team. If I have to wait one more season for the best QB the team has had since Otto Graham, then oh well; What's one more year?

Brian Sipe was an MVP as a little guy QB. Let's see Watson win an MVP and a playoff game or two before we go skipping over Sipe or Bernie, mmmkay?

I assume you mean a playoff game in Cleveland?

Because he definitely won a playoff game.

But if the NFL is going to probably end up on 10 or 12 just take the suspension rest up, and just put this to bed
It doesn’t benefit Watson or the Browns to just take a year off.
Browns lose a whole year with their stars
Watson will lose a year of playing service and will be his 2nd year in a row with no playing time.
I’d the judge who was hired to do this ruling and said 6 games, why shouldn’t they contest this new ruling if it’s more. That’s idiotic.

Time for a lot more handies?

Why would either want to? If someone gets suspended for a year, it's automatically an indefinite suspension and needing to apply for reinstatement. So you're asking why Watson and the Browns don't do exactly what the NFL wants and accept the harshest punishment possible?

Watson just went through an unbiased process with a fair judge who ruled 6 games.

That's like asking someone charged with a crime, "hey why don't you just plead to the maximum possible sentence?"

Not getting my hopes up, but this is a very interesting piece of information.

When Judge Robinson made the argument that the NFL failed to provide proper notice about the possibility of unprecedented suspension, I simply thought that was her opinion on the case and a somewhat generic opinion on most collectively bargained matters.

I was fully unaware that was the NFL's own policy that came about in the immediate aftermath of the Ray Rice suspension.

Very interesting indeed.

Do you think that means a full season + reinstatement is off the table then? Wonder if they keep the games suspended around 6 to 8 and then a big fine?
