Dinosaurs? Did they really exist??

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So you think God is a practical joker and created evidence of things that never happened just to confuse us? That’s the theory you are going with?

I mean, it's more plausible to have an Ipod on one of Christopher Columbus' ships than a 65M year old fossil on a 4000 year old planet.

Now that I just said that, I suppose those dino fossils could have come from outer space.

A good starting point would be to use the correct age of the earth. And it’s impossible for something with a zero percent chance of happening to be more plausible than something else.

You keep falling for this bro... :chuckle:

Well it depends on what you believe. Surely if a bunch of chemicals can fall in a pile and become life, it would be much simpler for a bunch of elements to fall together into something comparatively simpler as an Ipod, don't you think?

I would agree that the spontaneous generation of a computer program like Itunes seems very unlikely though.

I've actually helped recover dinosaur fossils directly from the earth they were found in, so yeah, they're real.

Yeah, and Neil Armstrong says he was actually on the moon, and we all know that's bullshit.

Does this person accept the fact that the Earth is 4+ billion years old, or that evolution is a real phenomena? Or is it conspiracy theories all the way down.

On the evolution topic.

Why is it that Chimps evolved separate from humans? When the “ideal” evolution pattern for all apes would have been humanoid....

Why is it that some apes evolved into much dumber species. Why is it that there are species so much fucking older than Humans that just haven’t seemed to get any smarter???

This is actually very interesting to me I’m not sure if you have an answer for me or not.

Wrong. Apes are a super successful group and pre-grass they made a lot more sense. There were major risks to going the walking ape route.

1. More predators out in the open on the plains. Especially big cats.

2. Overheating was a big problem. Human have to be on the move and go all over for food instead of snacking on jungle plants all day. Humans had to develope both hairlessness, sweat glands, and upright legs to deal with the lifestyle.

3. Is the probably the biggest. Upright walking means that the birth canal is tighter than any other animal. Infant mortality is the biggest barrier to it that you can imagine. It means humans have to be born many months premature in order to even fit through. Infant mortality and even more importantly maternal mortality is very high for humans in the wild compared to other animals. The premature birth also means babies need looking after longer and thus mother's cannot reproduce as fast either. Chimp babies out pace humans until the are 1.5 years or so I think. They walk faster, they can climb and escape predators and they are mentally superior because they come out more fully developed because their skills fit more easily through the bird canal.

4. The human brain require so much fuel, it would be incredibly difficult for humans to get enough nourishment on the diet of a chimp or gorilla.

So really Humans are at a huge disadvantage in so many ways, but the human brain is the most amazing advantage as is human culture, that all those drawbacks are worth it.

Lastly, we are not the only ones who have done it. There have been dozens of humanoids as you call them, or hominids, that have died out. Now most believe they didn't die out for obscure reasons. Neanderthals were successful for 100k years, longer than we have been around. Maybe we killed them.

Pretty easy read

Adding to this, one of the reasons we out-competed other hominids is anatomically modern humans underwent some sort of cognitive breakthrough 45,000-40,000 years ago.

Prior to that, most Sapiens were blocked from exiting Africa by Neanderthals living in the Levant (though some populations were able to leave and populate Australia for example). But, 40,000 years ago, not only did Sapiens finally start spreading out of Africa in earnest, but they began the slow roll-back of Neanderthals, over 10-15K years, until their extinction.

We may have killed Neanderthals wholesale, but the slow rate of advancement is more suggestive of a competitive advantage either in hunting skills (Sapiens had superior weapons) or via physiology (Neanderthals are believed to have needed 10-15% more calories to cover the same distance as Sapiens). Even a 10% more efficient ability to obtain food would have been a decisive advantage.

Ironically its because B batteries are dinosaurs and no longer needed. They used to exist, just like Single A batteries.

uh, excuse me? I was told that dinosaurs went extinct because a comet came and wiped them out*, and this was a natural phenomena- where are you getting they were wiped out because they were 'no longer needed'? Care to explain?

We all know Dr Gary Larson proved the real reason they went extinct years ago.

To add to what was already answered, it's a misnomer that evolution is a pathway to becoming smarter or that we are the destination of it. It's just about becoming more suited to survival in your environment. So, in a very dumbed down sense in which I sorta understand it, we didn't get smarter because that's how we were "supposed" to evolve or anything, that's just the advantage that helped our ancestors survive, while the ancestors of chimps stayed in trees and avoided a whole lot of bullshit.

Somehow this thread is actually pretty great.

Jurassic Park is the only proof I need to know if dinosaurs existed.

Just like dragons are real too
