Dog Question

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Day three update; it’s been a week. He’s starting to eat on his own and drink on his own in larger wuantities. He’s very ornery, and they gave us a pain med to sort of calm him out when his stomach is sore/help slow him out so he can rest it out.

Update; for the first time in a week, we had a quick break from the dog. Left him in his crate. If all goes well with his vet visit tomorrow, going to crate him Thursday and try to get back to life.

he’s staying with a terrific friend Friday-Tuesday, and we’re getting a massive, much needed break. Can’t wait.

That is very promising!

Left him in the crate for 2.5 hours, bone dry! And it was way too big for crate training rules, so we resized tonight.

Over the moon joy.

Sounds like my last date

No crate accidents. Positive vet appointment, and then, chaos.

Little bruh had a bout with diarrhea, shedding the parvo like crazy. Little bruh ate a pebble the size of my pinky nail. I jammed my finger in his throat and heard a rock fall, but no clue if there was two. Just a really miserable afternoon/evening for us.

Sorry to keep using this as a journal, but it helps me/my anxiety.

a couple of pees in the kennel (he’s in there 8 hours bc I work full days), normal poop today! Eating, well behaved, getting tired out playing.

Pups are a constant struggle aren't they...but worth all the effort. Love dogs.

My husky seems to have kennel cough now, though she is vaccinated and hasn't been to puppy day care in over a month, must have picked it up at the dog park. Sounds like she is choking to death, at first I thought it was just because she's a dumb cow and likes to eat grass but it's been going on a while now.

Hope your dog is doing better.

My dog's cough is doing better but now she is throwing/coughing up mucus-y liquid...including all throughout the night...including in my bed. It was just dry heaving before I went to bed so I didn't think too much of it throughout the night but now I'm walking around the house cleaning it up. Now I'm scared to feed her and go to work...

hope this cleared up! Sounds really gnarly, and honestly, the bloody fluids get to me really bad.

got back in town, and our friend brought him home. He supposedly has done great, and honestly,I can’t wait to get him weighed because he was seven pounds and there’s NO WAY he weighs seven pounds now. We follow a few bassets on IG, and one is a pup about two weeks older than Eugene. Eugene is about 10-15 pounds lighter. We’re thinking he’s gunna be a mini basset.

This is such a dumb question; We’re having success with no potty in the crate, and 3-4 hour spurts at night. How in the world do I get him to LIKE going into the crate? I’ve been feeding one of two meals in the crate, he gets a kong with some food in it during the day. Because I’m off work, doing a one hour in one hour out kinda thing, and his cries are definitely quieter, but he still does not want to go in, even with food bribes.

He's still a puppy. Just give it time. As he ages, he'll learn to see it as 'his' space and it will be comforting. My puppy despises the crate too, but it's just because he doesn't want to be alone.

My older dog spends the majority of his day in the crate when I'm at work and I don't put him in it or shut the door. He sleeps in there a majority of the day with the door wide open.

ETA: don't ever put him in there after you just got done yelling at him or smacking his butt. You don't want there to be any negative association.

I keep reading, and the vet said, he should sleep for about 16-18 hours a day.

he maybe gets like, 10 hours tops. Dude does not want to sleep.
