It’s just putting an insulting adjective in front of their names. It’s kindergarten level creativity.

Is this why people voted for him? I know no one in this thread is implying anyone did, but did that actually sway voters?
I can’t say it’s why anyone voted for him, but he boxes politicians into tight corners.

Calling Biden “Sleepy Joe” forces his hand the rest of the presidential cycle.

Biden is supposed to be the middle moderate that can unify the country, and by calling him “Sleepy Joe” he forces Biden to come out stronger and more forcefully than he otherwise would. It puts Biden in a bit of a box as he fights through the primary.

He did the same thing with “low energy Jeb” who came out swinging multiple times and was rocked by Trump and his counter punches. Even my favorite, Rand Paul got taken to the cleaners by Trump in a spat. He’s a bit unpredictable in the sense he’s an idiot, but he has had clever comebacks and his honesty, which would submarine nearly any other politician, are allowed to slide with him because he isn’t a career politician and has never been PC.

He’s an enigma. I don’t like him, but good luck knocking him off his thrown. And the crazy thing is, and this is backed up by Dems reaching out to Jake Tapper, his crazy tweets and “racist” bullshit against “the squad” is actually working. Dems are saying it’s genius strategy......anonymously.

Again, shit is crazy.

I mean........yes? We clearly saw that among the Republicans in 2016, with Jeb trying to prove that he's not low-energy and Marco going after Trump's hands.

It's unfortunate but that stuff sticks with voters.

Gabbard almost made her cry, maybe pump the brakes on that one.

She also seemed flustered justifying her health plan in the early exchange with Biden.

People are over-valuing debates in the discussion here. Biden got "rocked" in the first debate and he's still the front-runner. Kerry won all three debates and lost the popular vote (the Dems have won it every election since).

Any Democrat, especially a coward that anonymously talks shit about the Justice Dems, that treats racism like a campaign strategy rather than a danger to society can fuck off. Dems are so worried about optics and strategy that they would rather sit on their hands than act.

This is the Dems' election to win, but they haven't been doing very well so far, imo. Does Joe Biden really excite anyone? His biggest selling points seem to be 1) he's not Trump and 2) he was President Obama's VP.

I don't expect to agree with really any policies that the Democrats put out there, but student debt forgiveness is something that could make me say "screw it, I disagree with all of the other policies, but this is something that would directly improve my life so I'm voting for you." Republicans aren't putting anything out there, so if the Dem candidate has a good enough proposal that could sway me.

People in the Midwest like Biden. If they win back Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin that’s enough to win, and he may put Iowa back into play as well.

What would the tax implications be of student debt forgiveness be? Wouldn't that be considered unearned income?

Yes. Joe Biden has been much more forceful in campaign events and in last debate, in part because of the “Sleepy Joe” comments.

Without a doubt, Jeb Bush tried to ramp up his activity in debates to counter the “low energy” moniker, and Trump made note of it during a debate.

He got Marco Rubio a bit off his game calling him “little Marco”.

But the “Crooked Hillary” nickname I do think resonated in many parts of the country. It highlighted her massive wealth gain while a politician and at State, and brought attention to her investigations. I’m not sure it changed her strategy, but it absolutely resonated with independents and moderates, IMO.

Do you have any evidence that they actually changed their debate strategy?

Direct evidence no.....but from watching actual debates, it’s quite obvious.

Anyone who watched the Republican primaries last year can clearly convey the change in Jeb Bush’s measured demeanor, to a guy on the attack in later debates, trying to increase his energy and spark.

I think Biden was much more fiery in debate #2. Some could say it was in response to Kamala Harris’s strategy in debate #1, but “Sleepy Joe” is kinda how he was viewed after rd 1. To defend his ground he had to change strategy and he faired far better in debate #2.

I’d say his recent campaign speeches may be even the biggest difference. He was really personal in his attacks of Trump and leaned a lot further left in terms of rhetoric than he’d previously been in his stops....IMO.
