I mean, it's gonna be an open question whether he CAN'T or WON'T for basically his entire tenure. can't really do much about it, that's part of the price of the ticket.

He's not bad with Mobley...for an SG. I'm gonna sort of take this as potential room for improvement
 
He clearly has the talent to succeed. And it rewarded him with a lifetime of riches. But his mindset may be lacking the desire for glory that made guys like Bryant and Jordan special. Some guys just aren't hard-wired to become true greats if they don't have that hunger. He wants to enjoy his life, along with where the results take him. If that's how it is, let him (it'll be frustrating for us as collateral damage, but whatever). But that only means he'll be seen as a well-mannered Iverson-type player rather than Curry-type (or Brunson-type for that matter).

Yup, as much as we blame harden and Kenny for the game one lose against the knicks, if our soon to be 70mil a year super star took over and just got us one or 2 buckets we win that game.

Also the last 3? Years we’ve gone out in a blow out elimination game where mitchel just mentally checks out. He doesn’t have that gene

Absolute nonsense and psychobabble. Plenty of shitty Kobe and Jordan weird “check out” performances.

You get the gene assigned after you win, it’s pure myth making. Mitchell’s genes are fine, he’s figuring out how to win at a high level which is really hard even for top-5 players, which he isn’t.

We love Brunson now bc he won BUT if you really think the “closeout game” standard is meaningful…Brunson had a good game seven against the Heat four years ago but absolutely checked out twice v Indy in the close out the following years. Mitchell has plenty of monster elimination games with the Jazz.

I have beef with Mitchell on court judgment and BBIQ but he’s clearly competitive enough. It’s IQ not will
 
Sometimes when he tries to take over and will the team to a win, it's like inserting a square peg into a round hole. Same with Harden

The two worst elimination games Jordan ever had were by 18 and 19 point when he wa 23 and 27 years old.

Which “plenty” are you referring too?

Kobe has a couple bad ones like Mavs 2011 and Celtics 2008. But he already had 3 chips by 2008 and 5 by 2011
 
 
Mitchell among many things hints at a new offensive aspect to his game he will be unveiling this season.. wouldn't say what that is, but that it would be useful when he's feeling fatigued in situations. Maybe some mid range stuff?
