Duke Johnson: Extension watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Cavs are dying for our sins!!!
Ok @Chris what the fuck

Why is it that I get yelled at for making the Sashi joke ONCE and this is, at the very least, the third different time I’ve seen Triplethreat make this joke and you refuse to scold him for it

Well, I know that you guys say it because you loved Sashi and thought he was the Savior of Browns Football, whereas Triple I know is mocking it.

:D :D :D :D

I was probably drunk if I yelled at you for it anyways.

On a serious note, with the Cavs a dumpster fire I am really hoping the Browns step up and become that second successful team in the city along with the Indians, as the Cavs sink back into a decade of irrelevance (I'd prefer all 3 git gud, but, you know)

Really loving this offseason and while I am skeptical like a lot of others, and refuse to start chalking up wins, I have to say it's hard not to feel like this could be the beginning- the very, very beginning, the actual inception- of something great.

Given how bad Callaway has been, all the injuries we have, and Njoku looking like an average Tight End, why have we not used Duke more as a receiver? I feel like he could really help Baker and the offense.

That would require a new plan for formations and personnel. Duke is a great weapon if used correctly. It hasn't been one of Haley's priorities, but I agree it's time to change with what injuries have left him.

And I totally agree! I get not adding a lot of those plays when the team was healthy, especially with Baker coming in during week 3.

But it just feels like now is the right time. We have lost a lot of weapons due to injury, two of the weapons we had going into the season just have not performed at the level we hoped for, and our running game is strong enough that it can survive without Duke.

I still want Duke running the ball a few times a game, but, I also think his best position right now for this team may be as a receiver - or at least a frequent receiving threat.

We can start by replacing Calloway with Duke on those reverse plays.

No reason we need to create all new packages to slide Duke in as a slot receiver instead of ______.

Njoku has looked really good since Baker took over. He beat his total from weeks one and two combined in week four in Mayfield's first start, and he's averaging 6 catches on 10 targets for 59 yards a game in Baker's three starts. He's easily been a top ten TE the past three weeks and arguably top five. And I suspect he'll only get better as he continues to develop chemistry with Baker. He's increased his targets and catches for four straight weeks now.
