Early 22 projected roster!

I think Amed's defensive value totals have been heavily skewed due to attempting to play CF for 14 games. He looks like a middle-of-the-pack defender with actual offensive value. I don't think he's in Gimenez' class defensively, and if Andres starts to hit, I'd love to see Amed moved to 2B in 2022. Otherwise, we're better off leaving him alone until a better SS appears.
Amed actually hits LHP well enough to be a platoon corner. This might be something to consider in about 8 years. As of now, he's a better shortstop than a lot of pretty good ballplayers and he'll stay there until a ballplayer who's actually better comes along. We have a problem at 2B, (plus a few other places) and it makes no sense to turn it into a problem at SS.

The problem is majority of our prospects can play 2B... Actually we are what a good 8-10 deep at 2B and all of these guys who can play 2B could easily be with the roster til 25-27 or beyond when it comes to team control...

Guys who can play 2B possibly on the 40 man roster in 22...

Jones (could play here has no experience)
Zimmer (better in RF)
Valera (157 innings)
Palacios (42 innings in LF, 123 in CF)


Amed has never played a single inning in a game at 2B, he's played some 3B, then a bit of LF with the Mets and a bit of CF with the Indians...

LF is where we have little actual fielding experience and we don't have a true LF based on the profile (which I 100% disagree with profiles so restrictive), so why not see if Amed can play LF, so we can allow our top prospects the chance to take 2B and SS? If we are keeping Amed, it's SS or LF, not 2B in my mind...

So let me make sure I understand what you're saying here. You think Rosario(a SS currently) could transition to a corner OF easier than to 2B? You can disagree with profiles all you want, but MLB baseball teams want strong offensive contributors with power in the corner positions if/when they can get them.
Amed is a MIFer and probably isn't going to win a GG at either SS or 2B, but he's not completely terrible either. I happen to have an opinion that he could be a much better 2B than a SS.

While I thoroughly enjoy having Amed on my favorite MLB team, reality suggests that his lack of long term control, cost, and system MIF depth will make it unlikely that he's a Guardian for very long, if at all. Trust me when I say that I don't find pleasure in saying that. I have a respect for Amed that will transcend which team he plays for and I wish I could tell him how much I appreciate his effort, hustle, enthusiasm, and attitude.

Understood, but I respectfully disagree. If it were me, and it's obviously not, I would either leave Amed right where he's at or swap him and Gimenez and make the up and comers force their way in. If Gimenez doesn't come around offensively it may be him who's on the outside looking in. Regardless of what happens, Amed's value has to be significantly climbing right now.

It's what he's doing with his AB's.. like today, an 8 or 9 pitch AB.. he was on everything..

I didn't mean to suggest that he's not performing well, only that if he doesn't then it could be his head on the chopping block. We need to keep in mind that this is a good problem to have. If any of the talented minor leaguers are going to find their way onto the major league roster next year there will have to an opportunity presented due to injury or a lack of performance. It's not going to just be gifted to them.

I think we can all agree, that we can field a stronger lineup today than on opening day.
