I am thinking this might be particularly good for guys like Mobley and Okoro who can almost always not "hurt you" and avoid mistakes. It might put them more in the try stuff on the court frame of mind.
I think the JBB way tended to stifle creativity. It looked to me like the non-stars on offense first job was to not make mistakes. Freedom to try things and make mistakes is how players grow. There is obviously a balance here, but we have a number of guys who would benefit from trying new stuff.

This is crucial for garland. So often he looked like a player trying to decide between two options and never trusting either

Mobley was impressive in the preseason debut. He hit the boards and defended as expected, but his offensive game was vastly improved. He looked more comfortable handling the ball and had things all his way when he got to the hoop. Hopefully this is a sign that he's ready for the next leap.

Decisiveness is what really stood out.

Seems like he worked his ass off on his face up game and now really has some initial confidence going to it in live action.

Little thing I noticed on the transition and-1 is that he’s learned how to go 2.5 steps after picking the ball up by keeping the dribble alive a bit longer. Previously he may have picked the ball up earlier and been one step further away from the basket when going up to shoot.

Tell me if I am wrong, and I get its preseason defense and Bulls are not a good team. But with the change in offense, the lane didnt seem nearly as clogged with Mobley and Allen in there. Setting back screens, ball movement, ect all seems to open things up. And in a wide open offense, the athletic skills and length that Mobley possess should translate very well to easy buckets and efficient scoring.

Just seems Kenny's offense was made for guards like Garland and Mitchell and a big like Mobley.

I mean, shit, in the NBA, shouldn't we have coaches good enough to make an offense that makes the best out of the players they have? It's crazy that it's not just an expectation in this league. But alas....

I think its an expectation, but coaches have their strengths and weaknesses and there are what maybe 10 or less truly good coaches and the rest are either retreads, never should of been elevated from cooridinator or just still learning on the fly how to be a head coach.

Here is hoping that Kenny has learned and ready to be a top 10 head coach.

the nba is prone to nepotism, both for coaches who shouldn't be coaches, and on players who shouldn't be in the nba.
