Now the season really begins. Still boggles my mind that the Cavs don't have 2 consecutive days of rest until after the 17th game of the year. They do have 3 back-to-backs, however. To add to that, they have to travel for 15 of those games. Just a crazy schedule.

1st game - amazing
2nd game - meh
3rd game - meh

Given enough minutes to dominate Sarr and Wizards' bigs but cannot capitalize. Still a long season and hoping Kenny and staff makes it easy for him. If he cant beat his man off the dribble he does this spin move that goes nowhere. Needs to keep it simple sometimes. A floater will do him good or a spin fade counter. Wishing we had Kenny last season just to have Mobley jumpstart his offensive development a year early.
Exactly this.

My biggest gripe with JB is that LAST YEAR should have been the “let Evan Mobley try stuff and learn” year. Now, maybe Evan’s injury prevented this from happening, but I doubt it.

This entire regular season is going to be a crash course for Evan in trying stuff and developing his game. Glad we have Kenny and a competent coaching staff now trying to help him.

Wasted development time and an Injury promoter.

but it was JBB's "i have to keep my job" year...

He’s a good player, but when I hear leap I think 25 and 18 against top competition. I don’t think that’s coming any time soon. I still think we can be a force without him being our best player, with good coaching

They didn't seem to really use him the first half, but it seemed to me they were able to comeback in the game once he touched the ball earlier. I don't really understand why he was kind of ignored a lot of the game, but hard to get those long if stats like that.

Also, because of his defensive had him on the perimeter a lot, not sure we are going to get a lot of high rebound games.

No leap yet, but the progress is showing.

Really think Evan was part of the winning recipe last night. The Cavs seemed to somewhat figure it out as the game went on.

The Knicks chose to pack the paint every time the Cavs got the ball inside. If it was a guard, the lane often got clogged because bigs were often cutting at the same time. There wasn't an easy release valve, and the Cavs' 2 best catch and shoot 3 point threats last night were the starting guards.

When Mobley is the one getting into the lane, all of a sudden Garland and Mitchell were freed up to catch passes from him when the defense collapsed. This forced the Knicks to make choices, and on more than one occasion, they hesitated, leading to a bucket.

This is the kind of thing that Atkinson has been talking about since he got here. Use Evan's passing ability to leverage the guards', particularly Garland's, ability as a shooter in ways they haven't been used before. It requires Evan to stay in attack mode and others' to continue to commit to playing through him, even when there are struggles.

It will lead to a much more potent playoff offense.

Should also save Spida's body from an immense amount of fouls and falls on drives attacking the rack.

Team is adapting abundantly well to a space and pace play style many here have been banging the drum for throughout seasons past.

Garland was definitely the star of the game, but obviously you don't win shit without Mobley in this game. In a lot of ways he was the best player on the floor, at least as a complete player, but gosh we suck so bad at defensive stats, so people will look at the box score and think Mobley was the least effective person yesterday, when in reality he was probably the most important piece.

I agree too, for some reason it seemed they weren't involving Mobley much at the beginning, but when they did what they said they would all year, we kind of took over the game. Hopefully they was a lesson for the guards too.

I feel like it's already obvious, Mobley's new role is helping JA fill out the stat sheet, what we are starting to see is it is going to majorly open up the game for Garland as well.

You're seeking prime Shaq stats. Should be simple enough!

A kindly reminder to all that Evan is but 23 years old until mid-June

No Giannis, but he carried us against Lopez & Portis.

Has a player averaged 25-18 since Moses? Let's have realistic standards lmao
