In seriousness, I think mid-range and post-game are going to make a comeback. I agree that if the dude has it and can make the shots, he should do it.

I think it’s as simple as some of these dudes like mixing it up and taking those shots and will. Regardless of metrics, not everyone wants to shoot threes and dunk and not everyone can.

Basketball is a style game, if anything. I think guys will want to separate themselves from the pack and emulating Kobe, Garnett, Nash, Dirk, Pierce, Bosh, Duncan (that’s who these guys watched) and even some of the other guys that played old school ball is a way to do it.

There are a lot of guys who had teardrops, floaters, fadeaways, post j’s and shots that weren’t threes when gen z were young kids.

the "anti-Trae/Harden rule" was a giant step forward toward bringing back the bigman and bringing back the physical wing defender. Cavs are ahead of the curve here. It should also be noted the league in general is much more fun to watch than it was even from one season ago. (and I mean just two random league pass teams)

though somehow that hack Harden still is getting more FTs this year than last....

but overall it is a lot better

The thing is that a 3 point shot is worth 3 points and all those other shots are only worth 2

yeah, but we are now entering an era where you can play up on the shooter without fear of the horseshit call, and then if you have bigs, defend at the rim with enough physicality that mid-range shots are going to see their come back, but even more, post shots because you can't defend a hook from 4' from a 7' guy with 7'4" wingspan.

The point per shot equation will likely start changing.

Is this a serious post?

There is no anti Trae and anti Harden rule. League had reverted back and then some. It's worse than ever. The first month was a facade.

Nope, you can't play up to shooters. It's worse than ever and it's being abused hard. Players junp forwards right into the defenders space and fall down and it's an automatic foul.

I'm serious, I get that habits die hard, and you've also got a ton of G League refs being shuffled in and out right now (star struck?) but there is no way Okoro is allowed to play Irving like he did if it was last year.

You can't close out as well anymore, but on ball you can play up. Everyone's figured out how to use the "landing space" rule to get FT's.

A 50% advantage (3 vs 2 points) is too great for changes in play style to seriously affect. This year will see a new record in 3 point attempts per game, with only a marginal drop in percentage made (now at 34.8%, a drop but partly due to all the G leaguers).

Everyone but the purest classic center needs and can benefit from some kind of 3 point shot now. Mobley should have the capacity to make them at a league average clip.

maybe it's wishful thinking then. Still, games have seemed more fluid and more in line with what one wants to see. Bigmen seem to have more important roles than they did in the last few years. Doubtful we return to a place where Houston tries to win a playoff series with nobody taller than 6'8"

3 point shots should be changed to 2.5 point shots. Change my mind.

Oh this is the Mobley thread.

I agree in principle but pretty sure Americans are only smart enough for whole numbers
