I'm not comping KD and Evan skill-wise, only athletic ability. KD is a nearly 7' SF (6'10" & 3/8 in socks) who has great lateral quickness, speed and can use a 7'5" wingspan to recover v quicker players. Is Mobley, at 7' (in shoes I believe) w/a 7'4" wingspan able to move similarly to offer that kind of ability to cover the perimeter.

Yeah, 25 PPG with crazy handles and a pull up 3 while being maybe the second or 3rd best player in the NBA through his career would be great too. By all means.

Just not comping that aspect, really only physical traits. And not even comping it, asking if those traits are comparable, as they might need to be to roll out an Evan, Lauri, Jarret front-court for any length of time.

But if Allen, Mobley and Lauri start, who’s our bigs off the bench? Kevin Love and Kabengele?

It's usually not like hockey, where you have whole line shifts...Wade, Love or Kabengele can come in for one of them...or, Cedi, Windler or Stevens...and then you're back to 2 bigs...

Forgot about Wade, but that’s a pretty bizarre shift from three 7 footers to Love and Wade. Throw in the fact Love will probably miss a bunch of games again

I still don't understand where the Mobley at 3 idea came from. I don't see it at all.

One joking shit post that people are running with.

It didn't originate from you...(some) people have been fawning over the possibility for months now

ETA the whole debate is dumb AF anyways IMO, on defense you play who you can defend and on offense you need to maximize spacing, and just about every player on this roster will be playing multiple "positions". Just...forget about positions mattering so much.

Never once saw Mobley claimed as a big wing leading up to the draft. I make a joke that I'm willing it in existence and voila, Mobley is a 3.

For example, for some time prior to the draft, Chad Ford had been saying a scout he talks to views Mobley as a big wing. Ford, for whatever you think of him, had not supported that view himself, but repeated it steadily. @Kouki is right.

I intentionally avoid Chad Ford's shit analysis like it's the plague. I'd rather read Fedor.

Hey I threw in “for whatever you think of him” for a reason!
I guess I did find mention of him being a big wing on one CBS article. And of course that is attributed to "one scout." So I'm willing to concede someone else said it before my joke, but it certainly wasn't a consensus idea. I legitimately don't remember it being mentioned here until my joke on draft night tho.

I much prefer to watch prospects over reading hot take articles about them in general.

Dean freaking Wade. Put some respect on his name. Dude is better than Love right now. Love shouldn't sniff any playing time.
