It's probably not an exaggeration to say that Love owes his whole career to his hands.

He’s always been somewhat undersized, unathletic and slow. But he's extremely strong – you can't move him, and he can rebound with one hand while keeping legit NBA centers at bay with the other. Plus he combines extreme strength with shooting ability, which isn't that common in the League.

Mobley has not yet figured out how to be a great receiver. This is hardly a surprise - when you are as good as he has been his entire life your team basically gets the ball to you and lets you do your thing. Young stars are almost always better with the ball in their hands or receiving simple passes like post ups. It's not easy to figure out timing on cuts and how to recognize spacing and where the voids in the defense are when the game is far faster than anything you've seen before. Some players never figure this out, but I wouldn't bet against Mobley. Love is a master at this - how a guy as slow and earthbound as he is continually finds open shots is impressive.

Yeah for sure. He's a really good passer, but has eyes for the corner better than the wings.

One of the things that really bummed me out about Setxon going down was there were rumors that he and Mobley had developed some chemistry.

I really don't think Sexton ever settled in and he was pressing quite a lot. His career high assists got cut in half, so he was clearly adjusting. I know some said Collins first 2 weeks were a disappointment because he had made progress playing with his teammates in the offseason. I think with the way both Mobley and Allen were playing Collin was getting those leaks outs based on their forced turnovers. I thought that was such an interesting pairing. Alas

I’m pretty confident in Mobley’s playmaking and outside shot developing. And him gaining size should help him better establish himself inside for easy scores. So my biggest question mark right now is how he’ll progress as a screener. Because screening isn’t just about size. Watch Steph Curry screening our bigs the other day and you’ll see that. It’s also about technique and the willingness to be physical. Things will be a lot easier for Garland if Mobley and Allen learn how to set proper screens.

i think it was the exact same play every time too. Double drag up high with Lauri ghosting his screen and Mobley flashing to the top of the key. They’d trap Garland and Mobley made the right decision pretty much every time until the team just ran out of gas.

Inboobiewetrust had a great post analyzing this sequence in the game thread, both the play we were running and how Sacramento eventually countered it and almost came back because JBB didn’t call time out to counter their counter which he easily could have done

He has to start screening better. It's almost inexcusable.

If he continues screening like that then he might as well just slip every screen. It would be much better. Just slip the screen at the top and get the ball in the short roll and be a decision from that area. Just screening so badly doesn't put his PG or him in a position to do anything. Slipping quickly puts the Cavs in a favorable position. Especially that teams now take away the Garland-Allen PnR coupled with the lack of spacing with Lamar in there. The lack of PnR makes the spacing much, much worse because we just don't create any rotations. With Mobley slipping and getting the ball in the short roll Lamar will be able to either shoot the corner 3 (rather than the 3 from the wing) or make the back door cut.
