His understanding of the court is just incredible for someone his age. He knows exactly how to move without the ball on offense, and exactly where he is needed on defense. You just don't see that from the vast majority of vets, and you never see that from rookies.

Even as a rookie, LBJ's offensive court vision was remarkable. But he wasn't anything close to where Mobley is on the other end.

Only 6th best? Who are the 5 better young prospects?
6. Evan Mobley (Cleveland)

“Evan Mobley is the best two-way player from last year’s draft,” one NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He has a maturity about him.”

Including Sunday’s loss to the Warriors, the Cavaliers have a 19-13 record when Mobley starts for the team.

The rookie big man is tied for sixth in blocks per game (1.8) and helped Cleveland hold opponents to the league’s lowest field goal percentage inside five feet (57.3 percent) with his length and recovery ability defending rolls to the basket.

The list goes:
1. Luka
2. Tatum
3. Ja
4. LaMelo
5. Trae Young
6. Mobley

I think Luka and Ja are the only two that are 100% ahead of Mobley at the moment.

It’s also easier to have court vision on offense when you have the ball aka you’re dictating the action and defenses are reactive to you.

For Mobley to be such an elite off-ball defender, he’s reacting to what he thinks his teammates will do and also reacting to what he thinks the ball handler will do.

Thinking versus knowing and he’s almost never wrong.

Everyone on this board (other than maybe futuredome) would be LIVID if we traded Evan for any of Tatum, LaMelo, or Young. Please. Ja is an interesting case, but Evan is substantially better as a rookie than he was. Luka would be debatable.

This list is a joke.

Assuming this is just a 1 for 1 trade w/o factoring in roster, why would the board be livid at trading Mobley for LaMelo Ball????

I've said all year there are 3 guys I'd trade Mobley for straight up.

Giannis, Luka, and on some nights LaMelo.

i’ve watched enough LaMelo Ball to know he is very different, very special. I think we’re gonna talk about him the same way people still talk about Penny Hardaway in the future. I don’t even know if you can put a ceiling on what he does. The same with Mobley.
