Barnes' numbers were better per 36 as well, so it's not a question of volume.

Barnes' already is a better passer than Gordon has ever been, which opens up offensive options Gordon never had.

Saying "he may be Aaron Gordon in a few years" when he's already better is just unfair. And if he never develops his shot further...he'll be in the same general boat as would Mobley if his shot doesn't develop further. And both will be better than Aaron Gordon.
Barnes is a solid passer but honestly, I think that if Barnes played on a team that presented the same spacing issues as Mobley did, he would've had a very different rookie year, and not in a good way. Mobley will always be a better defender than Barnes. Once Mobley showed he could defend in space, which I didn't expect him to do his rookie year, it became not very close on that end. I also disagree that Mobley has to develop a shot outside of ten feet to be effective offensively. Height is still an advantage. Mobley's post game is raw, but he can score plenty down low.

I think Mobley is a better defender, but it isn't a one-sided comparison. And in terms of the offense they can generate from wherever, their TS% and per 36 points were extremely close. I'd still prefer Mobley, and I think most GM's would as well, but I don't think Toronto would do that trade because the players are close enough that they'd likely just stand pay rather than risk ruining a good thing.

And I think they both - absent injury - are better than Aaron Gordon already.

His face and attitude annoy me.

And Mobley looks the same to me physically. A lot of off-season to go though.

The baggy long sleeve shirt probably isn’t helping, but I agree his frame looks the same.

Does this mean we won't get the "He added 30 pounds of muscle in the offseason!" hype pieces in September?

SGA is like the MVP of these lazy offseason runs. Then the season starts and he disappears.
SGA will be interesting to watch this year. The last 2 OKC has had to have him be "injured" enough that it didn't hurt their tanking plans. This year, with the #2 pick (and who knows what else Presti does with all of that draft capital) it will be time to try and start winning. What can SGA actually do as the best player on a team that's trying to win? He's never been in that position before. Is he "the guy" or is he just another guy?

59 games into the season, if it ended today, we would be in the playoffs.

Seems like he’s been on the team longer than 360 days
