I would take Cam, but not for Sexton, take Sexton off the block now that we have Rubio, balances the roster there, but we still need SF depth and Cam looks the part, but i get he has played more like Jane, but if the price is right (not Sexton), I would take Cam
Lol, nope. Roster balance is still bad.

Agreed, but its closer than before Rubio, thus i said there after Rubio. We have a backup pg who can play with both halves of Sexland

Look I get the stats, but....

-Do we not weight what happens in an ECF against the Bucks a little more than regular season games?
-Do we not account for him being 21 and in need of obvious development uptick and the ability to do that, coming off a long injury, in an ECF is kind of a good indicator of the potential that is there(and actually was tapped into?)

Who recommended Sexton for Reddish? That's stupid and it's stupid from the Hawks perspective as well. Maybe that's why you are coming down so hard on Reddish.

To me though, not all sample sizes are created equally and there has to be more weight given to doing that in an ECF than in the regular season.

I honestly hope Reddish continues to improve and impact in the NBA just to stick it to the overwhelming negative takes he's gotten on this site for 2 years now.
Sexton is only a year older and is a significantly better player. Trading Sexton for Reddish is undervaluing Sexton and the type of move that will get Altman canned.

Do we think Mobley will be the day 1 starter? I know Kevin Love has a fat contract, but Mobley is probably the better player today, the top pick, and should be the starter. Although given how these things go, I am expecting a Garland/Mobley/LNJ/Love/Allen starting lineup at this point...

If after 3 seasons of running rookies into the ground, that were not picked with same elite upside expectations as Evan, predicts anything at all, YES. Love shouldn't even be on the roster come September if all goes right.
I don't expect the Rubio trade to be anything more than giving Love another reason to want leave instead of a constant reminder that neither of them won anything together in Minnesota. But if Love is still around it will be as a bench player with his old buddy on the same unit.

I don't think the issue is Love. He's coming off the bench to play with Rubio. It's Nance. If Mobley is the extraordinarily rare big man who is good enough to start day one at age 20, sure start him. But for three years in a row the Cavs have started young rookies who weren't good enough to start in the name of development. That's hurt the overall performance of the entire starting unit and that has to end. Also, I'm not sure how great it was for development. Darius look shook his rookie year and was too thin. Sexton was never forced to break his bad habits.

I'm fine bringing Mobley along more slowly and developing him the right way if that's what needs to be done. It's what the good teams do.

Agreed. In my post I quoted I said trading Sexton for Reddish would be stupid.

I haven’t seen anyone suggest trading Sexton for Reddish. There are plenty of other ways to approach a deal.

It only took 3 years for Ayton to become a key piece in helping the Suns reach the Finals.

I think he will be but I don't think we need him to be.

Okoro ended up starting right away because there really were no other options. With Mobley, Nance is a capable starting PF.

Mobley should start and at least get 20 minutes per, but if Allen is not brought back, then it is a lock he will not only start, but play starter heavy minutes imo.
Allen should be brought back for sure if the contract is fair, but if Toronto offers him a contender type deal he could be history now that the Cavs have their elite big.
I could see a high usage Mobley next to Love,Kabengele or Hartenstein being possibly just as impressive as pairing him with Allen if not more.

Love the pick!

I’d be lying if I said he didn’t remind me of some of the great big men of yesteryear. And by yesteryear I mean pre-1980s. The really slight build, the short-shorts, the springy legs.

despite his combine numbers, which iirc, weren’t elite…he covers ground better than any big in the class. Amazing recovery ability. Blocks with either hand.

the fluidity of movement while shooting and ball handling makes his potential sky high. I’m not putting a ceiling on this kid. Green and Cade may become good players, but an elite defensive big man who can defend most wings and some guards + contribute on the offensive end should’ve been the #1 pick.

but, I know the Pistons and Rockets are trying to entertain their fans and ball handlers do that.

i agree. Besides Reddish, you would need another larger asset.
