Evolve?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was looking forward to this game for a while but the DLC shop has really turned me off. Back to CS..

I believe I read there was 130 dollars worth of day one DLC and just said nope.

Seriously, when did gaming turn into this? Cosmetic only cash shop or I'm not playing your game.

I'm actually pretty amazed at how few games have taken the Team Fortress 2 route. That game rakes in money and no one is ever pissed off about it because you can get all the new weapons pretty easily via trade or craft (or achievements sometimes) and the hats are all nonsense items that you don't need.

Evolve is just particularly insulting because they see fit to charge sixty bucks for the actual game and then milk as much via DLC as possible. Fuck that.

I recently played quite a bit of Payday 2. It was fun but every new release was another $5-10. I only buy them on sale now.

I looked through the DLC yesterday, and outside of the season pass contents, it is pretty much just skins. Who the fuck cares if there is $130 worth of skins? The DLC would also only cost you $130 if you were stupid enough to buy multiple copies of the same thing (since it seems like all of it is available via bundles).

The game's Xbox One DLC hub spans four pages and includes 44 items, both bundles and individual gets, for purchase. A quick breakdown: 24 skins are available for $1.99, while nine are priced at $2.99. If you purchase each item individually, then, it'll cost you $74.67.However, buying all the available bundles — there are eight for $4.99 and three for $6.99 — rings in at $60.89.

Personally, I think shit like skins should be free in a game that you have to pay sixty dollars for. If Evolve was free to play, then by all means charge for them. It's just really shitty to charge full retail price for a game and then hold back a ton of content, even if some of it is just cosmetic.

its a matter of rising development costs and static cost of goods. Also, things like skins can be added all the way until the developer sends the disk off to be burned (which is well after the game has to be sent off for certification). There are a lot of reasons for DLC,and a lot of it isn't just gouging the consumer.
