If it's now proven that Bauer never paid her, how exactly is she a gold-digger?
while not a legal scholar.....If it's now proven that Bauer never paid her, how exactly is she a gold-digger?
Bauer’s money for legal fees is no competition for MLB’s money for legal fees plus whatever the billionaire owners might chip inwhile not a legal scholar.....
By proving that there was no case for physical abuse AND zero case for any untoward financial coercing of her testimony, this leaves MLB with a HUGE liability for blackballing an otherwise innocent player.. and slashing any chance for the pursuit of happiness This is a MASSIVE liability with a guy who has millions and can fight the legal fight...
...the publicity from any legal procedure involving a player and his right to compete will cost MLB BILLION$$.. MLB doesn't want any part of it.. but it's now, by their own narrow minded behavior, being set up.. This "black balling" nonsense has been handled about a poorly as possible..Bauer’s money for legal fees is no competition for MLB’s money for legal fees plus whatever the billionaire owners might chip in
And the Rockies have won three straight after starting 9-50. Freeman has completely turned their season around.
Last night they won 3-2 and he got a hit and scored a run. The night before they won 3-2 and he got three hits and scored a run. The night before that they won 6-4 and he got a two-out single that drove in a run.
He's making a push for NL MVP.
If you dig for gold and come up empty, does that make you not a gold digger or just a bad one? (And I don't even remember if she asked for money but just trying to say that's not the right question)If it's now proven that Bauer never paid her, how exactly is she a gold-digger?
Just because you dig for gold doesn’t mean you’re going to find it.If it's now proven that Bauer never paid her, how exactly is she a gold-digger?
That was the longest legalese ever to say hold on folks, he might still be an asshole...smhFor whatever it's worth, this was a default judgment. That means this wasn't the result of a full litigation and trial where a jury found in favor of Bauer after listening to all the evidence. The most likely reason for why that happened here is the defendant never filed an answer to the initial complaint. After enough time passes, the court skips all the usual steps in a normal litigation and goes straight to a default judgment hearing, where the plaintiff enters their facts into the record, uncontested by the other party.
When a defendant fails to respond to a lawsuit, it's usually because they never actually received the complaint that was filed and didn't know about it. Given the higher profile nature of this case, I don't really think that's the reason here. Most lawsuits don't have their updates broadcast on Twitter. Regardless as to why she apparently never responded, the result of this case wasn't because the court listened to all the evidence and issued a ruling. It's also worth noting that courts greatly prefer to resolve matters on their merits instead of on procedural grounds like was done here. So there's several avenues where this judgment could be vacated and the case could come back to life.
I don't really know much about the facts of the case, but from what little I've heard, it was based around statements the defendant made claiming she received settlement payments from Bauer. When supposedly what she received was payments from an insurance policy. It wasn't about whether Bauer had assaulted her or not.
None of this is to say that that Bauer necessarily did assault her, but it also doesn't mean that he didn't either. To anyone without an understanding of what a default judgment is, it may sound like it clears up his name when the reality of what actually happened is still murkier than that.
While he has been successful recently, how would Ramon fit back in the clubhouse? IIRC he wasn't thrilled splitting time early last season with Florial & others.Ramon Laureano is hitting .352 for the O's since May 1 in 54 AB's. He'd be an upgrade over Noel and he probably could be had cheap given the O's are in last place. Might be a decent rental and an alternative to Jones or Noel in right field against LHP's.
Looks like they want to give JRod a shot rather than trade for Ramon. While he has been successful recently, how would Ramon fit back in the clubhouse? IIRC he wasn't thrilled splitting time early last season with Florial & others.
