Ex Guards are the Best Guards {'25}

Tyler Freeman up to

.306/.366/.468/.834 4SB 1CS 5BB 7SO 2HBP in 25 games/62 AB. 5 doubles, a triple and homer with a .321 BABIP.
..always liked Tyler Freeman.. he was the Big Ern before it became a thing....

Ramon Laureano is hitting .352 for the O's since May 1 in 54 AB's. He'd be an upgrade over Noel and he probably could be had cheap given the O's are in last place. Might be a decent rental and an alternative to Jones or Noel in right field against LHP's.
I don't care if you are a moderator a temp ban should be on the table.

All kidding aside, they probably get him for our old prospect Cash Considerations, but I think they should give JRod a shot first. They are mediocre enough that I think they have to see what they got in these guys.

Naylor with a walk off grand salami in the bottom of the 11th.
I knew I shouldn't be reading this forum while watching a replay of the Seattle-AZ game. Naylor had big hits which contributed to the Diamondbacks 4-0 lead here as I'm currently in the bottom of the 8th...how in the freaking world did Arizona blow this lead to the terrible Mariners offense in the 9th?

I'm just glad to know AZ eventually prevailed. I don't think I could have taken another hammer to the head after watching Cleveland's ugly loss and seeing both Toronto and Tampa improbably pull out wins in extra innings on the road. Yuck, what a bad night.

EDIT: omg, this is bizarre...are you sure you were watching the same game I am? Mariners are down 4-0 in the 9th, two out and no one on and the batter has two strikes on him....ok, he manages to work a walk off of closer Justin Martinez who is throwing everything 100 or higher and had struck out the first two hitters in the inning. Then Martinez is lifted all of a sudden for an unspecified injury and there is a long delay while a new reliever is brought in. This is nuts.

Oh, wow....the journeyman pitcher brought in (this will likely end his career)...gets to two strikes on the next two hitters, each of whom singles, then gets the next guy down two strikes as well--a hitter just promoted from Tacoma today--but the kid from Cleveland by way of the Ohio State Buckeyes blasts a pitch (get this) 116 mph and 450 feet to tie the game. Yep, good old big time Cleveland Indians fan Dominic Canzone from Walsh Jesuit crushed it. The same Dominic Canzone who was dealt from Arizona to Seattle for...you guessed it, Paul Sewald.

Heck, I'd rather Dominic were patrolling our RF than some of the guys we've trotted out there. And here he was buried in the minor leagues virtually all season. Ah, who am I kidding...if Canzone was in AAA for a Seattle team that has its own problems scoring runs, he's probably not an answer to anybody's outfield issues. But at least it would be fun rooting for a Cleveland kid...

There were so many frustrating aspects about Cleveland's game tonight, but two of them left their biggest imprints on me. First, the way Jose mindlessly ran the bases at a time where CLE was about to completely seize control of the game. Miley would have been reeling and on the ropes early--in a game Terry was desperate not to go to their pen early, which could have had significant repercussions on the Reds for the rest of the series, not to mention this game. For all the savvy instincts Jose brings to this sport, that was a devastatingly bad short circuit of the one major rally we had, one that very well could have been all we really needed.

Second, in the ninth inning, facing the "immortal" Emilio Pagan, we get a leadoff walk from Bo Naylor--on what, four pitches?--setting up a situation where only one more guy had to reach to bring Jose up as the tying run. Angel Martinez, Steven Kwan, Lane Thomas. Just one had to reach. Any one of them, c'mon. Didn't happen.

So someone tell me, was Daniel Schneeman ailing? If not, why didn't he pinch hit for the human windmill against RHP, Angel Martinez? Or how about Lane Thomas? Was Schneeman not available there to keep Lane from facing a RHP? Curious minds want to know. Such a disappointment not to get Jose up there against that bum with the opportunity to atone for his bad game.

EDIT to apologize for placing this in an inappropriate thread.

Beautiful plate discipline and contact stats from Tyler Freeman... don't think thin air teaches you how to see a baseball

According to MLBTR, pending free agent Aaron Civale has been moved to the Brewers bullpen. He'll need directions, as he's never set foot in one in his life.

Meanwhile, Ernie Clement has two more hits today against a LHP. He's now certifiably a lefty-masher, hitting .390 against them and shoving Andres Gimenez to the bench when a southpaw starts. Last night, Andres hit his first homer since the first week of the season, a monster 3-run job that got Toronto going again. The Blue Jays actually think they're good now. They're not, but it's cute watching Canada get all excited again.

EDIT: Ernie Clement just homered. It's getting ridiculous how good he is. He now has the second highest WAR on the Jays.

I was always a fan of Clement...

I see that old friend Daniel Johnson has resurfaced in the major leagues. This time for
the San Francisco Giants. He has appeared in five games (four starts) since June 4th.
