This specific story by this woman describes a kink that people have, but what we dont know any of the other details around it.

Aroldis Chapman choked his girlfriend out in a fight, fired eight gunshots, and got suspended 30 games. He became a world champion later that season before signing the largest contract ever for a reliever in the winter.

Bauer will definitely survive this. American society generally jumps to defend males in these situations. Chapman, Roethlisberger, Hill, Winston, Kobe - all of them are still playing like nothing happened.

Again, in relation to the overall situation, the legality of what happened is only part of it.

I have said on multiple posts that Bauer could absolutely be cleared of legal wrong doing, and that he might not even be charged.

Although, think about this. An elderly man was charged with murder for shooting his wife at her request, because she was suffering more than she could stand. He was deemed legally guilty, but public opinion was generally on his side, because most folks felt that he acted morally. It was viewed as an act of mercy. The public was sympathetic to both him and his wife.

In spite of what some say on here about the prevalence of this kind of violent sexual activity, in no way will the public view breaking a woman's skull as morally acceptable, simply because she asked to be slapped. The public in this case may have little sympathy for the accuser, but has zero sympathy for Bauer. It was an act...possibly legal...of violence against a woman.

And the public buys tickets to baseball games, and buys the products that sustain the financial foundation of MLB thru advertising. Every time Bauer is seen on a mound will be a negative for the Dodgers and for MLB in terms of PR...and for the advertisers.

Bauer, the Dodgers, MLB, and advertisers can't escape it, because Bauer admitted that he did it. Within the baseball community...which includes the fans..he is now a pariah...with the mark of Cain. The 40 million dollar woman beater and sexual deviant. Legality won't matter. The fan reaction will be brutal.

And that will be taken into account by every team when Bauer is looking for his next contract....if he is even allowed to play.

Years from now this incident will be among the very first items in his obituary.

Comparing a man shooting his wife to this is a big stretch…..

I don't even know that he needs to do the last part. Americans typically side with males here unless the female can provide overwhelming evidence or if it's on video. It sucks that we are that way and that so many immediately turn to victim-blaming but as you said, it will absolutely blow over.

It's also entirely possible nothing happened, and that it was all Bauer's doing against her will.

Usually I'd agree with a wait and see approach but Trevor didn't deny anything in the story, he just said that she asked for it. Those injuries absolutely came from him.
