Does Clint Frazier actually count as an ex-Indian?

Would be just our luck for Naquin to stay healthy all year and hit 30 bombs.

Basically the entire Reds lineup has an OPS North of 1.000 because they faced an AAAA Team to start the season.

Make sure to track his stats vs Pirates and non-Pirates going forward
Vs. Pirates: 4-for-11, 3 HR's, 8 RBI's
Vs. not Pirates: 2-for-11, 2 HR's, 6 RBI's, 2 walks, 1 HBP. Still not bad.

By the way, Naquin is making $1.5 million this year. At the rate he's going, he'll have earned that by May 1.

By the end of the season who will have better numbers, Naquin or Naylor? Naylor is six years younger and making $577 K, by the way. I don't think the Indians would trade Naylor for Naquin straight up right now.

Obviously a tiny sample so far, but along with flashing serious pop, Naquin is taking walks too. Already 4 through 7 games. To compare, in 2018 he had 6 walks in 61 games and in 2020 had 5 walks in 40 games.

Yankees update:

Frazier .566 OPS and .200 BA
Urshela .596 OPS and .261 BA
Kluber 6.1 innings, 10 hits, 5 walks, 5.68 ERA. Hope he likes pitching from the stretch.

Kluber is throwing 31.6% curveballs against a career average of 19.4%. He's throwing fewer fastballs and cutters. His fastball velo is 90.3, down 4.0 mph from 2014 and almost 2 mph from 2019. Maybe he called Trevor Bauer and asked him how he throws his curve. I hate the Yankees but I would like to see Corey have a good season after missing all of last year. But according to FanGraphs his fastball is down to 90 and his cutter is now an average pitch.

The Yankees are 3-4 having scored only 30 runs in seven games.

Biggest surprise so far is the A's, 36-24 last year, are 2-7 and have scored 25 runs in nine games; under three runs per game. Their team BA is .175. SS Elvis Andrus, age 32, is 3-for-32. Maybe they have a nice pitching prospect they would trade for Amed Rosario?

The A's team ERA is 6.56. Wow.

You can only imagine the meltdown around here if the Tribe got off to a start like the A's did. We are so fortunate to not have had the health issues that are dogging the A's, along with running into a buzzsaw like the Astros to start the season. It's never good to have a patch like the A's have experienced, but it's especially pronounced when it starts the season...but you know, this is how a team and an organization is tested. I prefer to judge a team in the aftermath of such a gloomy run, rather than by how things look when they are going smoothly.

Mets announcers lauding Lindor's intelligence for bunting with no one out, a runner on second, in the bottom of the first, in a scoreless game, with DeGrom on the mound for NY.

He beat it out. (Catcher fumbled an easy pickup.)

Lindor then proceeded to get thrown out trying to steal, guy on third did not advance.

Next guy struck out.

Following guy struck out.

Still zero-zero.

Wonder how we would have reacted?

With deGrom on the mound, not a bad move, esp because nobody would expect it.

The stolen base attempt makes sense to me, too. The fact that he was thrown out doesn't change the wisdom of the attempt. Three things could happen, and two of them were good for the Mets.

But this board would have had a mini meltdown...lol.

On this forum, 90% never want to see a good hitter bunt, and every time a Tribe player is caught stealing its a dumb move.

Really depends on the who is trying to steal.

JRam - nice try
Amed - maybe a little reckless
Naylor - WTF are you doing?

Actually I see zero issue with Lindors sequence.

After a horrific 2020 season Francisco Mejia is off to a good start in 2021 - battling out of the 9th hole today. In 5 games he is hitting 400/462/500 with 3RBIs 2BB and 0K.
