Ex Indians update

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Gotta love the MLB and all their talk about privacy.

They release an "over the top" suspension and magically a story pops up just when they need to shape public opinion.

I wonder where the WaPo was for the last 9 months. You mean to tell me they hadn't had time to sniff out a story and post it. Timing is very suspicious

Manfred works for the owners. You may not like him, but his employment depends upon the owners, who do.

This isn't an all or nothing situation like arby is. At some point there will be a decision, and it is unlikely to be the either the entire present suspension, which is a total of 324+81+12+18, or merely time served. More likely to be somewhere in between.

The three questions are how much money Bauer is gonna lose overall, how long until he is allowed by MLB to pitch again, and whether any team will ever sign him.

Lets say that a decision is rendered that his suspension is cut in half. That means that Bauer won't be eligible to pitch until early next season. But it also means that there is a strong likelihood that his contract with the Dodgers can be voided.

If that happens, Bauer would probably fight that in court, which would further extend his time off the field...and that would further constrain any team from taking a chance on him.

In the end it's possible...not probable...that Bauer could 'win' on every point, but it would be a pyrrhic victory that leaves him permanently unemployed in baseball.

The third accuser sounds like he made a rough sex tape with a girl years ago and what can I do with that now?

If as a young single woman a guy goes past your agreed to level of consent "dozens of times" to the point of choking you unconscious, why would you continue to see him after the first or second time it occured if he got angry and argued every time you brought your concerns up?
Yep

The Joint Sexual Abuse ... policy between the union and MLB went into effect in Aug 2015. One of the provisions was that it could not be used retro-actively - ie on any incident prior to the policy's inception - sounds like there is a timing issue with some stuff that is alleged. At least as far as MLB's ability to use it disciplinary wise

Very possible.

Not sure all your "future" accounting and contract nullification are spot on, but the point you make is definitely valid.

High stakes poker game being played obviously.

Stockholm Syndrome.

Sunday night contest between the Phillies and Mets has a number of players "mic'd" for viewers to get a feel for the play.. Francisco Lindor being one of them..

All he did was to show his sour-puss persona... no he's not gonna continue after a quick inning.. he stood there drinking out of a bottle of water, ignoring the ESPN commentators.. before turning his back and tell them no more..

Just another typical spoiled & uncaring NY player..:(

I see Jordan Luplow hit a hr today - didnt realize he was with the snakes - in the meantime, peyton b is pitching pretty well here in cbus

If you are at the game ... what was he sitting at mph on FB? I hate that they spend all that money on milb TV and they cannot seem to link in the radar gun .... And we still cannot watch LC games...

Yankees just signed Danny Salazar to a MiLB contract.
Good luck with that one.

This is why we were fine trading Mejia, and also why plate discipline is good.

LOL.

Mejia is also one of those extremely rare players (at least for a second) that has a higher batting average than OBP...

Yep and his chase rate is 59%.

The chase rate for qualified league leaders is:
1. Tim Anderson 51%
2. Raimel Tapia 49%
...
11. Amed Rosario 41%

Well Logan Allen was DFA'd by Baltimore...
