I don't think there was ever a point in time where it was really thought of as OGonz vs. Reyes though. Seems like OGonz had already earned his spot as the de facto RF starter by the time that he was ready to come back from his injury. Reyes was more in the DH role taking bats away from the Miller and maybe Naylor a bit.

I think we still can use a Reyes like player but he would also have to play a decent 1B. Naylor is shaping up more like a platoon 1B to me while Miller hasn't shown the ability to take the other side of that platoon and hit lefties. Then we got a bunch of other lefties who are in the picture and really just demonstrate the need for that RHB guy. I know you and CDAV45 have thrown out some names, and also guys like Christian Walker - I don't think we have to overpay here, just someone who can do the job well enough as they would not even have to be an every day player.

Well I personally think I would see if a could get Vargas from the Dodgers or see if Toglia from the Rockies is the same price as BTV says he is (he's a lot like Walker on paper but switch hits).

I get your meaning and it wasn't meant to be that way, but OGonz has sincerely replaced Reyes and it was by pure accident that ended up being in Cleveland's favor.

Franny has 10 hits in 50 ab's in september for the cubbies - 9 singles, 1 double

Hey, we can get Greg Allen back...

(Though am I the only one who thought he shouldn't be a switch hitter and just hit from the left side full time?)

FReyes now down to .673 ops with cubbies - if he plays enuf before the end of the season he might get to match the .603 he put up in cleveland this season --- some cub fans now thinking he might not be a core piece of their future
