Benson had a really rough start in Cincinnati (including in the minors) but in May his numbers have been good again. He's someone who really has gone in cold spells in the past before heating up so I wouldn't put it past him to get back on track. Over his last 75 PA in AAA he only has 10 K's (13%).

He's always been prone to those big K slumps, don't know if it's mechanics, how he's seeing the ball, or what but he had some momentum last year in AAA after which he got called up and sat on the bench and hasn't been able to find himself again. But maybe the AAA time this time will help him out again.

Also Benson's plate discipline seems to keep improving. Sure he has a ton of strikeouts in AAA, but as KluberSociety pointed out he's cut down on the Ks in May fairly significantly. In 28 AAA games, 32BB, 35K also 11SB 1CS and 11XBP.

His combination of power, speed and defense could be elite and if irons out enough of his wrinkles.... He might just get there.

Not going to lie of these former prospect off casts I am rooting him maybe a tad more. When he came to Triston’s first start and watched from the garage and just seemed he was willing to move around and do anything the organization asked. Just seems like a good kid to root for.
