I’m really conflicted on it. I think the luck of it is good in some ways. It’s the only reason for half the teams to even pay attention when 2-3 teams have the clear cut best teams.
and the head to head matchups make for fun rivalries
but God damn I think I’ve slid into 3rd in the league in points after this week and I might lose because Damien Williams decided to have more points today than he has in like 6 weeks cumulatively. It gets frustrating when you are the #2-4 scorer every week going against the team with just a hair more points than you
Yeah, I feel you on that.
Last year in the only paid league I'm in, the guy who was second to last in total points won the championship. He had far and away the fewest points scored against him all season long, and he was able to luck his way to a championship win and a clean $700.
His lineup in last year's championship game was honestly pathetic. I think his best player was Julio Jones and then he had like... Kerryon Johnson maybe. Just, not a great team. One I would look at and think it's a .500 team if everything breaks right all year.
This year, besides having my top two picks (M. Thomas & Smith-Schuster) lose their QBs for a good chunk of the season, I've got the 5th most total points and far and away the most points scored against me. I've got two wins right now, and I'm looking like a loser again this weekend.
The luck and rivalry factor can be nice, it's always fun to have a shitty week but still find a way to beat your opponent because they had an even shittier week. It's equally as frustrating to lose a game 171-168 when the next highest score in your league was 117.
I had fun in that one league. I felt like everybody that made the playoffs deserved it. There still would be times you'd have a great week and get screwed a bit since a bunch of other guys had great weeks, but I think everything balanced out a lot more by the end of that one.
