Fantasy Football 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Asking our resident fantasy experts as a relatively new player (this will be my third year playing):

Does anyone play in any non PPR leagues?
Yep. PPR is dumb. It exists because people like big numbers.

I managed to join a money league, redraft, as they had an empty spot and actually wound up with the first overall pick. That pick is obvious, but not sure what to do after that. 12 person snake draft, so next two picks will be 24 and 25.

1 QB / 2 max
2 RB / 4 max
2 WR / 4 max
1 TE / 2 max
1 FLEX
1 D/ST / 2 max
1 K / 2 max

6 bench spots
2 IR spots
I think this was my top-24 list, but I may have taken out the keepers so there's a bunch of names missing. It's also not in order after the first 3. My pick was #2 overall, and I had a keeper in the second, so my first pick after Dalvin was 3.2. Mahomes was there, by far the highest rated player on my board, and so for the first time ever I drafted a QB in the first 5 rounds.

CMC
Cook
Kamara
Zeke
Saquon
Henry
Chubb
Taylor
Kelce
Aaron Jones
Tyreek
Nuk
Kittle
Ekeler
Mixon
Mahomes
Swift
Allen Robinson
CEH
Najee
Miles
Scary Terry
Josh Jacobs
Godwin

With IR spots, make sure you try and snag Michael Thomas if you think he's going to come back and be a stud. (I personally am skeptical and didn't draft him).

MT burned me last year - spent a first rounder on him in a league I didn't much care about, just to see what happened. Luckily I didn't lose any money :chuckle:

If they're still available, I might try and swing Mahomes/Kelce or Mahomes/Hill. If not, my first three picks are likely to either be CMC-RB-RB or CMC-RB-BPA, depending on who's available.

That was our draft. Keepers were (one per team, left to right):

Goedert
Davante
None
Ridley
Justin Jefferson
Antonio Gibson
Dobbins
DK
CeeDee
Diggs
AJ Brown
Josh Allen

Obviously RB's went hard and heavy, flying off the board. It took me by surprise. I never draft QB or TE--and I took both in the top 5 rounds. I'm always the RB hoarder, and I still got my 7 backs--but drafting only one in the top 6 rounds was a really weird spot for me to be in.
I'm normally RB the first three picks to get my two starters and flex, so I feel this. A good QB is nice to have, but it's not a killer if you have a league average one as long as your skill positions are set.

The one that can surprisingly swing games for you is a kicker, depending on scoring rules. I've spent a couple late picks on a kicker in the past and in the past two years it's won me at least a couple games.

Starters:
QB - Murray
RB - McCaffrey
RB - Jacobs
WR - Hopkins
WR - Jeudy
Flex - M. Davis
K - Butker
D/ST - CHI

Bench:
Ruggs
Lawrence
Gronkowski
Hubbard
Bass
Waddle (pending)

IR:
M. Thomas

I think I did pretty well.

Methinks you got some tacos in that league.

I assume CMC #1, Jacobs/Nuk at the 2/3 turn, Kyler/Davis at the 4/5 turn, Jeudy/Thomas at the 6/7?

Ruggs and Waddle at 8/9, Gronk/Lawrence at 10/11, Chuba, Bass, Kicker, D round out the last four rounds?

Well done.

Who's your tight end? Gronk, or someone else starting that you didn't list?

Tacos galore, it looks like. Obviously it's a long season and I'll be dealing with injuries and whatnot, but... :chuckle:

Somehow forgot to mention that TJ Hockenson is my starter at TE.

CMC -> Hopkins/Murray -> Jacobs were my first four. Yes, Nuk lasted until pick 24, and Jacobs lasted until pick 48.

I'll post the breakdown in a minute, but... whew boy.

Josh Jacobs at 48 is... wow. The dude was the RB8 last year, and he isn't some untalented schmuck like David Montgomery.

Seasons are won via trades, waivers and luck--but you're likely the #1 horse out of the gates. Well done.

I've somehow had weird luck snagging premium RBs way later than should be possible. In my first year playing fantasy (2019) I managed to grab Dalvin Cook at 29 I think. Last year I played waivers and picked up Robinson to replace Barkley after he went down in Week 2.

Was actually surprised because I was told that this league normally puts a premium on QBs early - every single first round pick ended up being a RB. I don't think the first QB (Mahomes) got picked until near the end of the second round. When I got Murray, there was a run on all the dual threat QBs immediately after.

Also, I named my team Judge Jeudy... but I am open to suggestions. My other ESPN team is named Suh Girls, One Cup. :chuckle:

I was thinking about naming my team Doug Jeudy (Brooklyn 99 reference) but ended up going with "Stop staring at my Pitts"

Left my 2qb draft with the following roster. I know I am pretty week at QB and WR but I love my RB and hope to trade at least one for either a QB or WR as the season goes on. Terry McLaurin was my keeper (5 QBs were kept, 2 RBs, and 3 WRs) Thoughts?

1.(1)Christian McCaffrey (Car - RB)
2.(20)Joe Mixon (Cin - RB)
3.(21)Saquon Barkley (NYG - RB)
4.(40)Robert Woods (LAR - WR)
5.(41)Kyle Pitts (Atl - TE)
6.(60)Matt Ryan (Atl - QB)
7.(61)Damien Harris (NE - RB)
8.(80)Trey Sermon (SF - RB)
9.(81)Trey Lance (SF - QB)
10.(100)Terry McLaurin  (Was - WR)
11.(101)Corey Davis (NYJ - WR)
12.(120)Ben Roethlisberger (Pit - QB)
13.(121)Tyrell Williams (Det - WR)
14.(140)Chicago (Chi - DEF)
