Fantasy Start/Sit - Week 5 - The Fall of Ekeler

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’d be better off dropping Aaron Rodgers and playing virtually anyone else on a streaming basis.

I am very unhappy today.

I've got MVS as my flex this week because Tyrell Williams was ruled out. He's been held all game and was interfered with on a potential huge gain.

Of course, my opponent started Allen Robinson as his flex.

Frustrating to say the least. At least DJ Moore had a decent bounce back game today as my WR2.

Literally nobody else in the Green Bay offense is touching the ball except for Aaron Jones right now. What the fuck.

Aaron Jones was making me nervous the first handful of weeks, he was getting touchdowns but virtually nothing in terms of yards. I stuck with him since Williams went down and figured he might get more touches with Adams out as well, hard to say I saw him having the historic day he had though. Thought I was buried after going against Watson earlier but unless Seals-Jones happens to go for a TD and 60 Jones stole me the game.

If you follow Matthew Berry at all (which I recommend) he was touting him 2 years ago hard.

Green Bay has yet to really utilize him fully. If he remains healthy he's a #1 you have to start each week.

I'm so glad someone said Watkins wasn't going to play... the fuck?

I don't mind losing to someone who drafted well, but this bullshit with guys not playing, or more or less not playing and being pulled during the game is utter bullshit.

Losing because of goose eggs is terribly irritating.

ESPN league opponent was starting Shady and Mahomes. Didn't expect to end the night being down one tenth of a point with OBJ and Kittle going tomorrow. Assuming one of those two players touches the ball literally one time without fumbling, I think I should be set. More than likely I'll be 3-2 (with both losses being very tough luck losses).

Destroyed my Yahoo league opponent by 55, thanks to a combination of Watson/Thielen for me and both of his receivers (Evans/Watkins) giving him a big fat goose egg. 4-1 now.

Would have had a monster week if I didn't sit Jacobs against the Bears D. Chark, Godwin and Kyler Murray all showed up.

Is anybody getting concerned about James Conner? Only one good week so far for the guy I took at the end of round 1. I guess they will have to start riding him more as they reach farther down the QB depth chart. I hope.

Well Pittsburgh sucks so they aren't going to run the ball when they are down 14 by the second quarter.

Conner ceased being a high-end RB1 the second the Rapist went down.

Which is great, considering he was what meager talent I was able to keep from last year, and still my best player because of my shitty draft position, is now worthless.

Same story with Mixon, but for different reasons; namely CIN O-Line is awful. Same story with Thielen and Diggs, due to change of offensive scheme.

There are a whole slew of players who are no longer RB1, WR1s because of substantial changes on their teams ranging from QB gone for the year or new offensive systems.

(And all of them are on my RCF team).

I've scored the second most points all season in my paid league. Started Watson, Michael Thomas, Juju, Hyde. Have had an all around fantastic day despite leaving Fuller and Chark on my bench like an idiot.

My opponent has scored the most points all season.

Fuck this game.

I think benching Chark was totally defensible. Rookie QB against a great defense.

Definitely should have started Fuller with that match-up, though.

To be fair, I don’t think anyone really expects for a running back to have a monster game against the Bears defense. Josh Jacobs has been pretty damn good so far.

I kept Chark on the bench. Didn’t like the matchup, but clearly this week has been all about bucking expectations.

I'll do the full start/sit either tomorrow or Saturday when I get time. For now, here are my recommendations for tonight's game.

Start:

Tom Brady - The Giants have one of the worst secondaries in the game. Easy start for Brady tonight in fantasy.

Sony Michel - A Thursday night home game with the Pats taking on the Giants implies a positive game script for the Patriots. You want Sony Michel when the Pats are winning and more inclined to run the ball.

Josh Gordon - Gordon has been pretty underwhelming thus far this season, but it's important to note that the target share is there. He's averaging over eight targets a game the past three weeks and faces a soft Giants secondary tonight.

Julian Edelman - See the previous paragraph.

Golden Tate - With Engram and Shepard out, Eli Jones is going to have to throw the ball to someone. That someone has a good chance of being Golden Tate. Now, this start will be dependent on how deep you are at WR. I wouldn't recommend starting Tate over better options, but if you're hurting due to bye weeks or injuries, Tate could be a decent choice.

---

Sit:

All the other Giants. Darius Slayton could be an option if you're really in a bind, but I'd be staying away from the Giants this week on the road against one of the league's top defenses.
