Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guess he simply gave up on Cavs after being a whipping boy for LeBron. Mozgov had to paly outside of the paint to open up space on offense and chase people on defense and you can't build any consistency if getting yanked off for the first mistake. If Frye was hitting 3 pointers this consistently he would never be dumped by Orlando, so Mozgov would get playing time eventually when Love/TT/Frye go down with injures.

He was hitting his 3 pointers consistently, that had nothing to do with why he was dumped

In his Hey Windy show on WKNR yesterday, Windhorst still says he could get $60M this summer.

I think Windy must have misspoken, since the Cavs are the only team that can sign him to a 5 year contract, and I can't believe he thinks Mozgov is going to get 4/$60M.

That said, I have no idea what he'll get. The fact he may rarely play in the postseason won't exactly help his bargaining position.

As an over the cap team, Cavs would have difficulty replacing him.

It'll definitely be interesting to see what he ends up getting offered. With Jones, Jefferson, McCrae, and likely Mo (player option) all gone next year, I think the Cavs try to keep him at the right price. What that is I don't really know. They could also dump Kaun if they wanted to.

Point being, it's never bad to have depth, and though Moz has been a disappointment he'd be great to have around as a 4th or 5th big (depending if anything happens with Love). I think the Cavs would still be trying to upgrade at C no matter what, but Moz at 3 years for about $21 mill would probably be a good deal under the new cap. Someone probably throws him more money but I wouldn't be upset to keep him around at those numbers.

It' still mind boggling that a guy that was basically the 4th most important player on this team last season is suddenly straight garbage. It just doesn't make any sense. Maybe the Monstars got to him.

Big success with not starting Mozgov and not playing him till the garbage time in the fourth quarter.

You know what I like to do on the second night of back to backs? Shorten the rotation by removing a guy who started the night before completely.

Now, if you're resting a lot of key players, that makes some sense. But when you're playing all of your key players big minutes? Makes no sense.

Mozgov hasn't played well this year, but Lue has no idea what he's doing with him.

It seems this team is trying so hard to be the Golden State Warriors they decide not to use a center even against teams who don't play small ball...

And as I've said about TT before, his use as a small ball center only works against teams who are already playing small. He matches up after the other team has went small.

But what the fuck does Hasan Whiteside care about TT being center? He still gets to sit in the paint and protect the rim as if he were playing against a normal center. But Ty Lue is gonna be a keeper!

Curious question. Has Frye played PF with Moz at center much?

Don't think so but it really hasn't mattered who Moz has played with. He sucks hard. The only times he looks good is when he's in with LeBron.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kyrie hasn't passed him the ball more than 10 times all season. That sounds like a joke but I'm serious. Either Kyrie doesn't like Mozgov or Mozgov simply doesn't move when Kyrie has the ball.

It's mainly because Irving always snakes the PnR cutting into Mozzy's roll lane. On the positive side I've seen him get at least three offensive rebound & dunks off missed Irving layups in the last couple months...
