Favorite 80’s baseball player ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Butler was the best piece in the great Len Barker heist!

"stroking 3 dingers" was the joke

Ah, that went above me....maybe that was Grandpa humor?

See i am only a Dad right now, not quite on the Grandpa humor level, lol.

Rhomberg never turned a right-hand corner. He always spun three-quarters to his left instead.

I think he became a Cleveland State University coach later on?

One of my more obscure favorites from the 80's

The Jedi Master of circling a fly ball.

How is there no love for Mel Hall yet? I mean i think this is the year the senior committee finally gets it right and votes Hall into the hall.

Good Lord, Mel Hall. The Gunslinger. Flaps down.

What an awful story.

Best thing about the 80's was the Yankee's general ineptitude.

Any Jerry Dybzynski or Sid Monge fans out there?

Bake McBride.....Neal Heaton,.....Tom Candiotti, Tony Bernazard......what a flood of memories.

Gotta give a little love to Super Joe also

Municipal Stadium, packed house, bases loaded, Reggie Jackson up to a chorus of boos, including mine.

El Sid struck him out swinging.

Great memory.

Really cool that a lot of you also enjoy 80’s baseball. To me it’s the one decade that doesn’t get enough love...

It’s not the golden era of baseball— you had stars but nothing really like the 50’s, 60’s 70’s or 90’s.... Lots of powder blue uniforms...Pullover jerseys... Stirrups...The Expos.....But they still played their ass off and went hard... Love everything about it...

Old Joe. I remember my grandfather taking me to a game at the old stadium and pointing out Joe saying "he can open a pop bottle with his eye socket" and as an 8 yr old from a blue collar family I remember thinking what the fuck does that have to do with baseball and I can't see around this goddamn pillar.

"Pop." Yeah, I guess I used to call it that too! I've casually met Joe a couple of times. Goofy! Really outgoing and happy, but I sure wouldn't want the big guy mad at me. He's larger than you think, and prone to violence.

Yeah he came to Lima to play a few times. Didn't get to know him or anything, but it seemed he might be a couple fries short of a happy meal.
