Hey guys, thanks for being so patient with us during our server move.

We have purchased the most powerful server that we can get our hands on. It is about 3 times as powerful than the last server and I have been told that this should be the last move that we will ever have to make.

With that being said, this server is burning a huge hole in RCF's pocket. To guarantee that the site is up, I would have to keep up with the payments on this server.

Some suggested that we make RCF a pay per view site. That is not a route that we plan on ever doing. We are not an exclusive site, we cater to the masses and we feel that everyone should have a chance to experience having Cavaliers conversations on this forum. Making people pay for a site would really narrow this place down and we want to do the opposite. We want to grow, and expand.

How are we going to afford RCF's monthly bills? Ad revenue. You might start seeing more ads around this place. And that is the only way we will be able to keep the site alive. Also remember if you are really interested in one of our advisers, please feel free to explore their ad.

We are also now selling adspace for those of you who are entrepreneurs and would like some exposure in the Cleveland market. Your ad will be placed on the sidebar to the left and will be viewed by thousands and thousands of different people a day. If you are interested please PM either me or Ben and we can set you up on a program.

Shifting gears, another way to help gain revenue is to purchase from www.ilovethehype.com Not every penny in that organization goes to myself. But I have been using my share to help pay for RCF's bills. If I never started the shirt company, this site would have been in major trouble or I would have been forced to sell it.

We still have Josh Cribbs autographed tees ready for available. We have every size in stock except for xxl which just sold out this Saturday.

I'm also still giving away free Making of an MVP books via Twitter and RCF so please be on the look out for those items.

That's it for now, and I thank you all for waiting on this merger. Everything should be squared away before the trading deadline.

Re: Februray Update

How many posts were lost in the move? Seems like a couple, nothing too big, just curious.

And good stuff on this, site has been freezing and lagging these last few days, wooooo.

Re: Februray Update

I believe we lost about an hour amount of posts.

How does a server move work exactly? Does someone just come in and transfer all the data to a new server?

Always been curious.

That is about it. Takes them about 4 hours to build it and move everything over from the old server for a website the size of RCF.

Boy does it feel good to wake up, open your web browser right up to RCF and no see the "Server is to busy at the Moment" V Bulletin message...Way to go guys.

Awesome! Great work guys! I'll donate more when I get some more money :)

Well done guys, this thing is humming.

So Glen bought an actual server (the hardware I mean)? So once the server hardware is "paid for", what costs are there to continue to operate it? I'm just trying to understand how running a website works. You probably have a fee you have to pay for the domain name. What else is involved?

Thanks.

We rent a server, you never actually own it (You can but thats a different beast all together). For a site like RCF expect to pay the same amount of money as you do on a car loan every month.

No we did not buy an actual "server" We purchased hosting services, and it's the largest package available. (pause) The domain cost is almost near nothing. I just pay a small fee every year for that. It's the server plan that's killing me. I've told a couple people this already, but I feel like I just added another car note to my list of bills. If this thing doesn't start paying for itself then RCF would be in big trouble lol.

Damn. I'm sorry you guys have been forced to help keep a bunch of Cavs fans satisfied by renting this huge hardware.

Well... I have been trying to donate when I feel I can (I don't have much money either to spend)... I just feel so helpless when there's such wonderful people doing such favors for this forum.

Thanks guys. You have no idea how much I love you guys!

I wish I could donate to help out guys. But i'm trying to save every penny I can to go to college in the fall, and without a job the money is very hard to come by. Thanks for the server upgrade though, and I have a question about the ads. How much exactly does a single click on each add generate for RCF?

Love the sentiment but that would be classified by our ad network as click fraud. - Ben
