Los Angeles Clippers guard Corey Maggette told friends over the weekend that he was encouraging the Orlando Magic to make a competitive offer in free agency, allowing him to return to the team where he started his NBA career nine years ago.
Maggette, 28, averaged 22.1 points last season for the Clippers, where he has spent the last eight seasons as a shooting guard/small forward.
Maggette has until today to opt out of the final year of his contract for $7 million and become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday. Under salary-cap rules, the Magic have only the middle-class exception of $5.8 million to offer him in the first year of a deal. The Magic could build a five-year deal worth close to $40 million.
"I think he'd come back in a heartbeat," said a Maggette friend who is close to both the player and the Magic organization. "It's something he'd love to see happen."

What's the point in arguing? I'm a basketball fan that wants to see the Cavaliers win. If there are some idiots on the forum who have nothing better to do with their time than to try and make a mockery out of anything/everything I say... then so be it.... but don't expect me to acknowledge them.

Heath, but c'mon, exercise a little common sense here... It's one thing to propose some trades, but it's a completely different to suggest such deals that you, I ,and everyone else on this board who's older than 15 knows is probably not going to happen...
David West ?? Now, you suggest he was almost dealt on draft night... I have not read or heard one article making such a bold claim... Forget the Cavaliers, West isn't going to be traded to anyone for the time being...
Who could he have been dealt for ?? Brand, Jermaine, Antwann S&T ?? None of those players are better than David West... In fact, he might be a top 5 PF in the class with Garnett, Duncan, Amare, Dirk, Boozer etc...
It's just not realistic if you look at it from the Hornets view...
Which makes it worse than even the Iggy trade scenario that was being discussed... At the very least we know he's restricted, so there could be a move to another team with a 99.999999999999 chance he's staying in Philly...

Your realistic ideas are more than welcomed... They can be picked apart by whomever, but if they're realistic possibilities, than there's no problems..

I apologize for the David West thing.. thought I'd corrected that. I'd read that on a blog, and then after checking it on google and not finding mention of it, I didn't bring it up again...anyway... the West thing was false....although the Warriors (some of them) are asking that he and Peja get traded (according to their board -black & gold)
Baron Davis is the player I expect Ferry to go after... after him, then Tracy (yeah, I said it again), and if neither of them are possible, then Corey...although he is supposedly trying to goto Orlando now.
Andris and Baron is a legit trade idea!
