Five Bold Predictions for 2018

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You’d have an “older” Jay Bruce and Santana too. Zimmer, Lindor and Ramirez are all “older” too.

Whatever that means.

Brantley is playing around the home opener, my speculation on Kluber is mostly speculative.

People like to be negative and call it realist, but really it often sounds like an excuse to hear themselves talk.

Fair enough. I have little faith in the Cleveland Indians ever winning a WS. They have let me down too many times so likely why I am negging them. 538 seems to like their chances, so maybe they will do it this year.

@az what do you think of the shohei otani kid who the angels signed? Kid seems like an interesting prospect because he can pitch and hit.

His last full year was pretty crazy 10-4 with 1.86 Era with 170 k's in 140 innings while hitting over .300 with 22hr's in 300+ ab's as the dh when he wasn't pitching In Japan. Think he had an ankle injury last year iirc, do you think he'll end up having to choose between pitching and hitting or just roll with it for awhile?

@AZ_ to tag him correctly lol

Honestly from what I saw, his pitching is at least MLB ready, he may struggle for a season or two though, but his batting is at AA level at the moment. So at the end of the day I think they are going to allow him to bat a few days a week, but he won’t be strong that way just yet. If someone like a Pujols helps teach him then is may be decent in due time. He’s an intriguing prospect and if he stays hard working he will make it in the pros.

I’m not sure he’s good enough as a hitter to be a regular. But at worst he’s a AAAA hitter with pop who can act as an extra swing when teams need it late, that adds value.

But he can really bring it as a pitcher.

If he’s healthy I think he’s an All Star there.

It’s early, and he certainly has time to improve and grow, but I was never sold on Ohtani as some two-way All-Star.

He has an incredibly valuable arm, and I’d love to have him. I think most teams were kind of strong armed into giving him an MLB chance at the plate.

As a hitter, he should be in the minors, and unfortunately he’ll never get a ton of reps there either.

Decided to check out some of the game he pitched yesterday after yours / others responses and that spiltter he throws is filthy, doesn't even seem like his best pitch either (I'd say fastball is his best pitch atm).

I can definitely see what everyone meant regarding his potential as a pitcher given his consistent high velocity and general movement on pitches. I got the impression he may get a little wild at times and needs to work on placement of pitches against major league hitters with his off-speed stuff.

We're all just a bunch of fanboys.

Realistically this team is weaker than both the 2016 and 2017 models. No need for a bold prediction. A good season will be winning the division again before Miller departs. Lindor will be traded in 2020. The best hope is to win the division and hope for a miracle in the playoffs. It could happen but I don’t know if the hunger is still there. Up 3-1 in 2016 was likely the best shot this decade.

3-1 still hurts. GMAE 5- up 1-0 in the 4th- lost 3-2.

GAME 7- tied going into the bottom of the 9th, top of the order and a reliever on fumes. Don't even get a runner on. Santana, Kipnis, Frankie....

Jesus Christ that series as a whole is worse than 97

What I dont understand is why he didnt just sign with an NL team as a SP so his 2 way value could be maximized...

Then he'd have to play the field on his off pitching days in order to hit, which isn't happening, and he wants to hit more than every 5-6 days
