Former Cavaliers coach David Blatt joins Olympiakos

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The great savant that is David Blatt couldn’t land an NBA job yet again. How dare the Cavs have let him go? He’d have a three peat under his belt if he were still here!

Let me ask you this. Which team had more talent this year's team or the one without love and Kyrie in the finals?

Just think about those 2 teams and ask yourself if Blatt loses a 51 pt game from LeBron.

Ah, yes. Golden State certainly didn’t change much as a team from 2015 until now...

Blatt doesn’t even get the 51 point game from LeBron, that’s the thing.

And if he did? He woulda called timeout after JR’s rebound. He wouldn’t have had any actually available by then though :chuckle:

When the defense of Blatt is continually “but look at Lue”, that’s not exactly a ringing endorsement. Neither one has been very good in Cleveland. It’s awfully telling that that’s what I see every time I post something anti-Blatt.

“But, but I think he would be better than the guy I spent all year saying should be fired and is one of the worst coaches in the league!” Cool.

Look, Blatt’s a smart guy and knows the game. I’m not sure why some still pretend he didn’t completely lose the locker room sans Kyrie (which isn’t surprising given what we know about Kyrie and what Blatt envisioned his offense looking like). He’ll do great at some mid major D1 school after he gets tired of making fun of reporters in Europe.

Let’s stop looking at his tenure in Cleveland at what it could have or should have been in place of what it was.

I’ll answer your question though. I couldn’t give less of a fuck whether or not I think he’d have won a game in this past finals. It’s completely irrelevant to the big picture, so it’s a waste of time arguing about.

"Waste of time arguing" is classic. You wrote 3 paragraphs to say it was a waste of time.

Always funny to talk about how I experienced Blatt is, but Lue has literally only been a head coach of anything for 2.5 years.

Lue just kept his job nearly running LeBron into the ground. Blatt lost his after a better playoff run

Blatt has a much better defense, win percentage, and actually got roleplayers to do their jobs.

Lue makes every player he touches worse. Kyrie liked Blatt, so his firing was also part of his exit as he thinks Lue is a dummy like most of us.

Blatt might be the coach in the world who Lue can out coach.

Let's get it.

This is very big for Blatt. Olympiakos is a legendary club.
Very happy for him and hopefully he can lead them to success.

It is a waste of time arguing about a single game in a single series. I thought that point was pretty easy to understand...maybe it wasn’t.

I’m glad you spent just as many paragraphs again comparing him to Lue though. Thanks for reinforcing my point for me.

Back to vacation. Heard LBJ is gone. Gonna peruse some inside stuff here for now.

I don't get why people find this funny LMAO.
I was dead serious. Olympiakos is a legendary club in Europe and this is considered a very lucrative job for a European coach.

Because it’s still a downgrade from coaching in the best league in the world, and I don’t think David Blatt needs any more “opportunities” in Europe, where he already has a long track record of success.

If Blatt preferred Europe, he wouldn’t be applying for and interviewing for NBA jobs.

To spin this as a big deal is funny. It’s like saying it was a great opportunity for Rick Petino to coach at Louisville after already failing in the NBA.

Well obviously lol. I didn't say it was the height of a coach's career. But it is a very big deal in Europe, and for Blatt personally.
Barring the Russian national team, David Blatt never coached such a big, legendary club in Europe.
Of course he would rather coach in the NBA, but that doesn't mean that this isn't a very big job for him to land. It's awesome and I'm really happy that he gets the recognition.
