In less than one week, Fox Sports One will debut. While some thought NBC Sports Network could provide a nice alternative, the channel has made little impact so far. Can Fox Sports One be different?

Programming

The channel will broadcast Major League Baseball games (including postseason games), college football and basketball games from various conferences, UFC and major soccer tournaments, including the World Cup. It will also air supplemental and extended coverage of major sporting events including the World Series and Daytona 500.

Scheduled to air nightly at 11:00 p.m., FOX Sports Live will be the channel’s flagship 24/7 news, opinion and highlights program providing viewers with around the clock coverage through regularly scheduled programs, hourly updates and an information rich ticker.

According to the Fox Sports One website, the channel is also set to debut “BEING,” a documentary series that gives viewers a deep look into today’s greatest athletes, teams and sports icons with unprecedented access.

Talent

Jay Onrait and Dan O’Toole are set to anchor the coverage with analysis. The show’s commentary will come from sports personalities Erin Andrews Charissa Thompson, tennis legend Andy Roddick, NBA star Gary Payton and the NFL’s Donovan McNabb and Ephraim Salaam.

Oh, and Bill Simmons is already feuding with them.

So what are your thoughts? Will you be watching? Do you think they'll be successful?

As someone who last watched non-game ESPN broadcasting on July 8th, 2010, I'm excited to see what they'll bring to 24/7 sports coverage.

Cant wait to check it out honestly.

To compete with ESPN, they'll need to stoop to their level. My expectations are fairly low.

Is Andy Roddick really considered a legend?

They'll be a bug on ESPNs windshield, that's probably about it.

Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews. You can count me in!

I really hope it turns out to be a good channel. I really hate to watch espn anymore unless its for a game or Bucci or SVP are on. NFL Network and MLB Network are both great in their sports but I need an all around sports channel to watch.

I don't agree with this at all. They need to provide what ESPN used to - great nightly sports coverage, superb analysis, and coverage of major sporting events. Stay away from forced debate - that's the biggie.

I think they can and will be a major competitor for ESPN. There's a lot of people out there like myself - can't stand ESPN, but don't really have a strong alternative.

Quite frankly, an 11PM sports news show is much better than one that airs at completely random times and repeats a lot of the same stuff.

On one hand, I despise everything about what espin has become. I only watch espn if there is a game on. I welcome any sort of competition.

On the other hand, because I no longer watch espin, I have found that I enjoy smaller blog/message boards like this one for my sports news. The "Around the NBA" section fills my quota for national news.

So while I'd love for FS1 to compete with espin, I don't know that they are providing a service I need.

I want highlights. I want good coverage of every team and, in the NCAA, every conference. I don't want over analysis of the Miami Heat, Tim Tebow, the New York Yankees, and the Los Angeles Lakers. I don't want Skip Bayless-style forced debate. I don't want reporters making up rumors (I'm looking at you Chris Broussard).

We'll see if Fox Sports One can produce.

(And, as another poster already pointed out, Erin Andrews/Charissa Thompson isn't going to hurt things either!)

I dont have to watch espn nascar coverage anymore.. whats not to like about that. 2015 !

You people should really watch it. Watch it! WATCH IT!!!

It won't last. You can't air car racing and UFC all day and expect to compete. There just aren't enough people interested in those.

Not impressed so far at all. Their version of sportscenter has this panel of former athletes they keep going to for discussion during highlights. Problem is they are not experts on the sports they are discussing. Nothing like getting the wild card race broken down by Donavan Mcnabb :chuckles: and then have a former tennis player break down the NFL pre season.

I looked at the schedule and it is a ton of Nascar, which turns off about 70 percent of your average sports fan. They need to focus on giving us something new, not repeated programs that could be on the regional fox sports channels.

If they can get NFL games it may be a game changer, otherwise I am very unimpressed.
