Francona Stepping Down

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also it's entirely possible that Sandy didn't like the job of interim manager.
Anyway, hope Tito is able to get his health in check and be back with us in 2022. Him and John Adams both.
I am kind of surprised that Sarbaugh is sliding to bench coach instead of Sandy considering Sandy has filled that role before, and 3B coach seems like a tougher spot to transition a new guy into midseason.

Sarbaugh served as Alomar's bench coach last season & has winning experience as a minor league manager (9 seasons, no yrs with a losing record).
Many fans overlook him as a manager candidate but I suspect he has more potential as a manager then people realize..

I know Sarbaugh's track record, but I thought he remained 3B coach last season?

He'd actually be my choice to take over if Tito were to make this absence permanent.

Get well Tito.
All my life I never thought a manager made much difference.
Even Mike Hargrove, who had the best roster, I felt just filled out the lineup card.
But when Tito came here, I noticed a difference immediately. Tito was almost the 10th man. He was part of the game.

He will be the last Cleveland Indian inducted in The Baseball Hall of Fame.
I will be there on that day.

He was originally the 3rd but got switched to the bench coach later...

Tito must be in a tremendous amount of pain…he looks it, even as he comes out of the dugout. I know we all wish him a thorough and speedy recovery…certainly hope he comes back if he has that desire.

This news, along with the Cesar trade makes for a different vibe to be sure…hopeful it is still a productive final few months...still have high hopes for the near future.

Does Tito get credit for the wins the rest of the season?
I guess I’m asking if Tito drops out for the rest of the year weeks ago if we’d not gone on a long losing streak and he’d passed Grover earlier

I think he does, so it’s going to be awkward when he passes Grover in a week or two. Pretty sure he got the wins last year when Alomar was the acting manager.

I believe you're right. I think he got credit for the win the other night.

Best wishes to Tito. Hoping for a solid off-season recovery and to see him back next year.

I had hip replacement many many years ago. I agree with everybody who wished they had done it earlier.

I can't address any of the other very real health concerns Tito has, but the new hip will change his outlook on mobility.

Word on WTAM last night was that Tito will have hip replacement on Monday. In 5 or so weeks, they are going to put a rod in his leg.......dude is in horrible shape it sounds like.

His frame is in bad shape, my dad had hip replacement 15 years ago. I rather have bone issues like hip and leg, than heart or lung issues.

He can recover a decent amount with a replaced hip and leg, once you your mind, heart, lungs, ect go, its the beginning of the end.

But you dont take a leave of absence from a job you love as much as Francona loves managing if you arent in bad shape.
