The home team:
Dame Lillard of Portlandia
and her ladies-in-waiting.
CJ McGollum the creepy Tolkien Goblin
Al-Farouq You, Aminu
No, uh, Vonleh
Mason Plumlee (Unless that's Miles...)
The roadies:
King James
and his Court:
Duke Irving of Durham,
Sir Love, Knight Errant, formerly of UCLA and the Hinterlands,
J(este)R Smith, and
the high priest of MozGod.
Things to look forward to:
-More Kyrie? He's (obviously) still coming back from surgery, and this is a back-to-back. On the other hand, we should be building up his legs and his game shape.
-You'll have to forgive me for not commenting about the GSW game; I'll be occupied in the aftermath.
-The JailBlazers haven't actually had many legal entanglements lately.
-They have dealt with some injuries. Lillard missed the first game of his NBA career on Monday night. Allan Crabbe (Remember him? At all?) Started for CJ McCollum.
-As of 12/21, the Blazers are 12th in Points per game, and 16th in Points allowed per game. Giving up more than you score is a good recipe for "not winning."
-They are 5th in points/100 possessions, but 24th in points allowed/100 (per basketball reference; after adjusting for opponent quality, those rankings are 6th and 24th).
-In comparison, Cleveland is in 4th/5th, and after adjustment, 3rd/10th.
-Cleveland is 4th in Net Rating, and after adjustment, the same. Portland is 19th, and after adjustment 18th.
Things to dread:
-On the road, on a back to back, after a Finals rematch. Will there be any give-a-fuck left?
-We beat them on Dec. 8. Lillard hit for 33/6/6. Will Delly lock him down for any of the game? Will Kyrie bring the defense we saw flashes of last year? Or will Kyrie and Mo Williams play matador?
-Last time, they outrebounded us 36-30, had 21 assists to our 18, and if it hadn't been for their 18 turnovers to our 8, the outcome might have been different.
The Obligatory, in equal opportunity form:
